Texas Exes

Hi! I am an OOS student who was just admitted to McCombs. I am so excited that Austin could be a possibility for me, but since tuition is considerably loftier to out of state students, I am wondering if anyone has basic information on scholarships from Texas Exes, as I just submitted the form. I have no idea how this thing works!!

For example; generally, how likely is it to get at least a partial scholarship? Is there an advantage to being out of state and being handed more extensive tuition costs?

With my stats, can I expect any merit based help (I will not be considered financially needy) and can I get a general estimate?

White Female

3 years working at a luxury resort

UT is typically stingy with merit aid, so giving you an idea about whether you’d get any would be vague. Your stats are good though so I would hope. I think UT has something where if you’re oos and get a scholarship of over $1000 you’d get a tuition waiver or something of the sorts, where you’d pay in-State tuition. Don’t quote me on that tho, this is something I believe to remember seeing.

UT is beyond stingy with both need based and merit based aid. Need based goes to those with no income and Merit based is to the tippy top of the class mostly starting Junior year and they are hand selected. There are tons of students with perfect scores in everything and each year those scholarships are given out to a select few. Your best bet like most OOS Students is to satisfy the requirements to be in-state student to get that tuition reduced. Many people do it.

Texas Exes scholarship is very difficult to get for your profile.
