I didn't get anything...I was hoping for a little from the engineering department...but i guess not...

UT gave me $500/semester merit-based scholarship, and I assume it’s for the first year only. ($1000 total)

The other college I applied to gave me a full-tuition OOS, with the possibility of a complete full-ride (incl. room and board, books, and transportation). This was the University of Pittsburgh. I didn’t go there since their Business program is ranked so low compared to McCombs.

If I apply, I’ll be from OOS, and I doubt I’ll get anything with my stats(that is of course if I get in), but I’m still hoping.

you never know coollege. im an oos going to UT. i got several scholarships totalling 28,000 for the year. one of the scholarships gives me 21,000 for the year, but is not guarenteed for all 4 years, which worries me. but i plan to work hard to keep it up…hopefully ill have it for all 4 years.

Yeah, that is what keeps UT on my list, the what-if and maybe factor. But I think it depends on what school you get into. I’ll probably major in Econ or Political Science, and I heard the Liberal Arts school does not give out much in the form of scholarships.

Thanks and good luck with your situation.

24,000 over four years(general Cockrell School of Eng Scholarship) , UT is stingy with money.

only 2500 for one year; i’m pretty sure it was somewhat need-based. and i initially applied for and got into mccombs, which doesn’t offer any scholarships for incoming freshmen from what i’ve heard.

Liberal Arts honors gives out good scholarships which are not need based (Dedman Scholars). Texas Exes also has some good scholarships. I’m not sure what schools are eligible for the Texas Exes scholarships, but I do think there is some need based component to at least some of those.

I got a couple of merit scholarships from UT including the C.R. Endowment and outside scholarships.
With work-study, I’m covered for the first year.
Without work-study, I have to pay approx ~$800 for freshmen year

if you show no need (i.e. your efc is higher than cost of attendance), they will not give you any scholarships or grants. i just got a load of loans

yea i guess thats why i got all loans

Not entirely true, my EFC was significantly higher than the COA, and I still got a scholarship. Sure, it was only $1000 for my Freshman year only, but it’s still something. They also offered $5000 in loans. But that was it.

really? you’re lucky! i’m assuming it was merit-based?
on my financial aid letter it said i wasn’t eligable for gift aid (or whatever it’s called) because my efc was higher than coa. so now i have no idea what UT was thinking.

It was the “Walter B. Smith Jr. Undergraduate Scholarship”.

My COA was $23752 and my EFC was $59644. I also have no external resources ($0) like other non-UT-specific scholarships.

oh ok. well good for you!

My EFC was far greater than my COA but I still got awarded $13k over 4 years. (4k, 3k, 3k, 3k) It’s not a lot … but I got a bunch of outside scholarships so I’ll be okay.

Out of curiosity, what was the award for? Was it specific to your individual school?(e.g. Geosciences)

Mine was for being National Merit. It’s comprised of 2 different scholarships, but basically it’s just the standard package they give all Nat’l Merit finalists.

So they did award NMF scholarships this year? I was under the impression that they were no longer awarding them.

They did award them this year. I don’t think they are promising anything for next year’s freshmen. They took the info off the scholarship page several months ago.
