Hello College Confidential. This is my first time posting here, and hopefully this is the right place for this. I’m a high school senior planning to begin college in the fall of 2020, and I am looking for some help in my college search. I am interested in pursuing a bachelor’s degree in either Network Administration or Information Technology, and I’m trying to find a college in Texas with a good program.
Here is some information that will hopefully be useful:
- ACT: 35
- SAT: 1390 (Retested today, hoping for 1400+)
- Weighted GPA: 4.57
- 4 Point GPA: 4.0
- Top 10% of Class (Guaranteed admittance to most state funded universities)
- Cost: Preferably no more than $10K-$15K a year, ie. public university prices (Willing to accommodate, more info further down)
Other Info:
- I live on the Gulf Coast about 2 hours south of Houston, but relocation isn’t really an issue.
- If I agree to their terms, a company I have interned with is willing to guarantee me a job after college and also pay for my tuition and fees. (I may make another post about this that goes into more detail.)
I have looked around at a few schools, but none of them have truly stuck out to me. I have looked at some places like UH Clear Lake, UH Main Campus, UT Tyler, University of North Texas, A&M Corpus, Lamar University, and some other places. The only place I have really ruled out is UT Dallas since their IT/IS programs are extremely business focused. Really, I am open to any suggestions.
I plan on applying to a fair number of colleges in the coming months, and I would really appreciate some insight on which ones to focus on. I look forward to seeing what all of you have to say. Thank you.
Please let me know if you need any additional info or some clarification.
Thank you again.
