Textbook or Prep Book?

I was planning on reading my AP Statistics textbook, because due to our school only ever having 5 students pass the AP Stat Exam, I believe I need to put in some effort outside of school. Would reading through the entirety of the book be helpful or harmful? Or should I just read through a few AP Stat prep books?

Thanks!!

I would agree that effort is needed (as well as a new teacher) if only 5 students have ever passed the exam (got a 3 or higher). It would be more helpful than doing nothing to read through the textbook

Why not take a pre-test and see what you need to study?

@lostaccount i actually just took the 2007 ap stat full exam. I scored a 3, but I really want to get a 5.

@kimclan1 lol I agree! If I don’t read the textbook- I’m reading a prep book. The problem is doing both at the same time + my school load = many sleepless nights. My textbook is roughly 1,000 pages and the prep book is like 300? I thought reading 300 might be less work than a 1,000 and a friend told me a textbook isn’t more helpful. So what do you think?

The textbook will have more detail at certain topics. Also, the prep book will only work once you have learned all required concepts, vocabullary, and maths.

@kimclan1 yeah your totally correct. I will read through it, thank you!

The AP stat test is a class you either get or you have to study your butt off for (according to some of my friends.) I think a textbook would be a better investment than a review book since those are typically very general and doesnt go that much in depth with the material. Good luck!!

Honestly for me it’s a bit off both depending on the topic! & thank you!! @witchjack
