Textbooks dont exist!

I have my list of textbooks needed for school but cannot find them anywhere on the web. I type the ISBN given to me and nothing comes up, its like those ISBN numbrs dont exist. And even worse my school gives super vague names for the books i need so i cant find them. For example it says for calculus i need Thomas' Calculus, but there are a ton of thomas' calculus books and i have no idea which one is for me. Its like that for every class but one. Do you have any advice? Has it happened to any of you?

Well, yes it has, and when it has, it was a custom edition of the book required and printed by the school. Only the bookstore had it.

just plug the isbn into google. even custom editions will usually show up.

they dont show up. at all.

do any of the isbns have an X in them? Those are usually custom and hard to find in my exp.

And don’t forget you can email your profs and just ask what Author / Title / Edition they want. Usually they’ll say “yeah you don’t have to buy the custom edition”. Hate custom ed’s because they are impossible to find used.

no, none of them have an x. But i did notice that for the ones i cant find the publisher is left blank. I think that means they are published by the school and custom.

^^ OH YEAH!!! I forgot because my school doesn’t do it often, but some schools love to make a books out of professor’s notes. They can print them up for $2 and then sell them for $30.

these books arent $30, theyre like $130. I felt so good when i decided to rent or buy books online because it felt like i was sticking it to the system. But now i realize you cannot escape i, college will always gouge you for max profit.
