Textbooks needed?

Is there a way to find which textbooks are required for classes? We have looked at the OSU bookstore online, but her course and call # is not listed. Example Math 152 13176-2. She would really like to compare prices but without the ISBN number or any information about the textbooks this is impossible.

each classes and each teacher has their own specific textbooks that they would like their students to have. you just have to wait for the first day of class i believe.

Looks like OSU bookstore is about her only option then. Thanks for your reply.

This lists textbooks but I don't know if it is accurate. Nothing for 152 is a mystery. Are you sure it's offered? ha-ha

Math courses' books are listed on the math dept's website. Calculus by James Stewart (Standard edition) is the book used for Math 151 & 152... not sure about 153, as I just don't remember.

math.osu.edu is the dept. site

My son has attended OSU-Newark for 2 years. At that location, the textbooks aren't placed on the shelves at the bookstore until about two weeks to 10 days before the quarter starts. At that time, the ISBNs (a unique ten digit number assigned to every printed book) of the textbooks can be obtained. Once you have the ISBN, you can shop for the book at other locations. It's important to have the ISBN and not just the name/author of a textbook to be sure you have the most current edition of the book. He buys all his books (used) off the internet at a much lower price than the bookstore charges. Amazon and Half.com are good places to shop. I think school bookstores deliberately make it difficult to obtain the ISBN to discourage students from buying elsewhere.

Brit07 and tillygirl thank you so much for your information!

You're welcome. :)

Another gotcha is that almost all of Stewart's Calculus series have a new edition this summer. The question will be which version will they need for class. No way to tell until the first class.
