I’m going to be a freshman in college this quarter (at CSCC) and was wondering, when buying books, if the edition matters?

I currently need a MATH148 book “ALGEBRA AND TRIGONOMETRY PACKAGE (CSCC CUSTOM)” By Sullivan and 1st Edition. If I purchased the 2nd to 8th edition (there are no 1st editions available on amazon, ebay, or craigslist) would it really matter?

my guess, if no one knows, is that you have to ask your professor. My dd did not have the exact Math 148 book edition required but was provided supplements for the changes in the two editions during recitation sessions.

Hey I was in the same situation but, after contacting the math dept directly, we orderd online and picked it up through the B&N bookstore on campus. Turns out the Math 148 materials just came in on Wednesday evening last week. It is a looseleaf 3 hole set of notes so you will need about a 2-inch binder, too. I don’t know if the notes are updated or not from a previous time but it seems that these notes are unique to OSU. So I just bought on campus to be safe. Hope that helps.

Thanks a lot for the replies.
I just can’t find any 1st edition of the book I need and I’m assuming I’m going to need it on the first day. I guess I should e-mail my professor about it if anything.
Thanks again

You won’t need it on the first day, and probably not even for the first week. I know a lot of first years get anxious about this, but feel free to wait until after classes begin to buy it – people are still changing classes around, etc, so the first few meetings are lenient.
