that is the benefit of competition. The Univ. bookstore knows the eputation they have with students. They would be deaf and dumb not to know it. So, the competitive response is to preemptively lower prices to a competitive level… Voila! the bookstore remains relevant.

Is it possible to specify what books I want to reserve (like all the books for one course and not reserve the ones for the others) of do they require you reserve all your books so that way you dont go to competition?

if its a brand new edition of a book (ie they just made a new one) or has only been used for a quarter or so, generally the bookstore COULD have the cheaper version. this is where students get really shafted because there hasnt been time for people to take the class and turn around to sell it on half for cheaper, so you buy it at the bookstore price

I’m looking for the Chem 6A books and it says “3 Chemical Principles Bundle (text+soln. Man.+ucsd Flyer), 4 Edition” is required. Is the UCSD flyer necessary/what is it because I was just thinking about buying everything separately.

And what is “I-clicker Classroom Response System Transmitter”? Well I get what it is but can I even buy this online?

hey everybody,

i went through the same thing last year. i suggest you guys go on uloop.com or facebook marketplace. students sell their books and you can meet them and get the book. it can be cheaper too! and or you can just go there to look at the book they are selling to see how it looks like and what not to see if you are getting the right one!

and the clicker in chem just buy it from another person!

I have been using free-access scholarsboard.com to search & sell my textbooks since my friend told me about the new site that designed to help us search for books locally thus eliminating shipping cost and waiting time. If not try craiglist.com althought not student focused, they sell everything.
