Textbooks

How do you find out which textbooks each of your classes need?

UCLA STORE: Lobby

New freshman here. tried logging into ucla store to get isbn for books, but i get page error. i tried logging in as summer 08 and fall 08, no luck. any suggestions?

got it! you have to have a bookstore account first! go to ucla bookstore website, then click on "my account", then create a new account, and tah-dah......textbooks!

...go to URSA -> View Study List -> submit -> "all textbooks for term" or something like that.

Can we just walk into the store anytime to buy books, or is there a certain time when they begin selling them?

im pretty sure you can buy books anytime but most people do during 0 week since there isn't much to do anyway lol but i find it a lot easier to buy 2nd hand books since a lot of them are in really good quality after someone uses for a quarter and everyone knows the buy back people are a rip off (for a $120 book they'll give you like $20)... maybe even list what you need on here, if someone has it they'll pm you :)

how should you go about buying books for classes that you're waitlisted in? do they have a return policy?

just wait until you get in? i mean normally they'll decided whether they can take people from waitlist by 2nd week, i guess you can buy the books early and return but I think they can't be opened when you return... or maybe im totally wrong about it

You can do what kick53rv3 said -- just buy used.

you can buy books and return them for full refund up to a certain date. just don't open shrinkwrapped things if you think you might return it.

one thing NOT to do: don't wait to buy a book you need until the week you need it (say, for a literature/history type class). you risk UCLA sending back unsold copies and leaving you in the lurch. a friend of mine had to track down a borders' books far away just to get a book for her history paper a couple days before it was due...
