You've been a very big help in getting me thru the last 8 months. Thank you all. D chose Pitt Honors the other night over UMD Honors. That Pitt coughed up some extra cash late in the game was a factor making it more in line with what we'd hoped for; it certainly helped make Pitt more affordable. UMD came in with $$ we thought they would although we had reason to hope for more. There were things she didn't like about Pitt and things she didn't like about UMD. The final factor seemed to be that Pitt had a neuroscience department and major and UMD didn't, and she'd like to try out neuroscience without having to take a lot of biology and chemistry courses first. Given her interest in languages and neuroscience, it was hard for me to see her pass up UMD's Language Science Center and the coordinated interdisciplinary approach UMD has to the science of language, but she can always go there for graduate school, if she's still interested in language and science when she graduates.

You've all played a part in helping to keep me sane during this and for helping to educate us about UMD's strengths and weaknesses and how to navigate the UMD bureaucracy. Thank you very much. Thanks especially to maryversity for all her help with the bewildering and for her sense of humor. You're a gem, milady. I wish you all success with your college careers and beyond. This is my last offspring to guide through this process, and I am grateful too for that.
