I would just like to take a moment to thank all of you who supported me through the past couple of years. College Confidential became my way of working out my own anxiety about the college application process, so that I would not drive my son crazy! I hope I have been helpful to others as well. In the next few weeks, I will be sure to post on the thread about the schools that moved up/down when we visited and some other threads.
I am so excited and relieved that he has been accepted to Williams College early decision, and the college application process is all over.
It’s a little ironic, because I spent hours on College Confidential to learn about other colleges, and we visited 21 colleges, and he ended up going to my alma mater. But frankly, there were many colleges where he and I both think he could have been very happy… and that made today a little easier for him, while he was waiting to hear from Williams, because he knew he had a great mix of wonderful colleges at a range of selectivity levels to which he was planning to apply. So thank you for all the information!
Congratulations – and indeed the pressure is off if you’ve got the money. My son also had an early acceptance at Williams (many years ago). He applied at the normal time for regular admissions but their acceptance came a few weeks prior to the established date. In the end he chose to attend UChicago.
Wow Williams!! My grandfather went there a long time ago. One of the best schools anywhere. We visit Williamstown a lot, love the area, the museums locally, the scenery and tippy top academics with personal attention.
Happy for your son- and you- and so nice of you to come on here to tell us and thank CC for support
Congrats, I love, love love Williams!!! So happy for your son and your family. It is such an amazing school. Those who were her during my D’s admission cycle will remember me crying when I told Williams that she would not be attending .
@TheGreyKing , you’ve been a class act all year. Hopefully, you will not see the need to keep promoting Williams with every list and ranking you can lay your hands on.
Congratulations! Thanks for update! The college process definitely encompasses a range of emotions. Bask in the glow of a wonderful acceptance! Enjoy it and best of luck to him on a his new journey!
Congratulations to your son, what fantqstic result! And thank you for the post, it’s rare on cc - also, parents who are gracious and involved are always such help for all other parents and future applicants, so… I hope you’ll stay on.
Now…may your whole family enjoy senior year!
I think it’s fantastic that your son will be attending Williams, both for the quality of the education he will receive there and for the clarity he appears to have brought to his selection process. Best of luck to him! You must be very happy!
