Thank you to Rec Writer?

One of the people who wrote a rec letter for me (someone who doesn’t work at school) said he got a thank you note from Brown for his letter. While I do not know if it was specific to what he wrote or just a generic thank you, is this any indication of interest, or is it common practice for Brown? Thanks!

I’d guess it’s just a thank you note, not an indication that you’re accepted, though you may be by your own merit. They appreciate the recommender’s effort in trying to make the admission committee’s job easier by writing you an essay. I’m guessing the fact that he isn’t your teacher/counselor has something to do with it.
