Thanks for everyone's support and the recording of my recital is now online...

Dear Parents,

Many of you were very supportive of my saga with NEC (about which, by the way, I have no news as of yet) and I really appreciate it.

I don't want to post only when I need advice or support so I decided to share something positive with you.

On Saturday, May 14, I performed my first all-solo voice recital. I am very pleased with how it went (which is unusual for me, as I am usually too critical of myself to be happy) and would love to share it with you. The entire recital is up on a webpage, with all of the songs broken up into individual files that you can either just listen to or download. This is the site:

If any of you are at all interested, please give it a listen and let me know what you think :).

Thanks,
Julia

Congratulations! I enjoyed the Gilbert & Sullivan especially, as I'm a big G&S fan, and I think the repertoire is underappreciated and under-utilized. I heard a few pitch issues in "Sorry Her Lot," but overall it was a strong performance, and you obviously have a very unusual talent. I'm impressed that you chose such a wide variety of pieces, many of which are so challenging. I also loved hearing your confidence and accuracy in your high range; it's clear that you're perfectly at home near the top of the treble staff!

Hanna, yes, "Sorry Her Lot" was the most sorry of all of the songs. It was almost comical how badly those ascending runs went given that I hadn't been having any trouble with them previously. I was seriously considering not putting it (that song) online but then decided that as an artist who is presenting her current abilities, I shouldn't try to cover up my mistakes as that's almost dishonest, in a way. Thanks so much for your wonderful compliments; I really appreciate them =)

Glorious- and I really don't have any background but I am fond of your gift. Good luck.

Thanks so much, momnipotent!

Thanks for everyone's interest and for the e-mails/PMs that I've been getting. I just wanted to let you know that the site has been moved to www.juliatorgo.com and that while the original url will work for another week or so, this new url will be a permanent one that I will update in the future with new concerts or recordings and news. Thanks again to all.
