That one, regrettable grade...

I'm hoping I can get into a really good school (think MIT) for Chemical Engineering. Not taking into account other academic attributes, how bad does a C+ look in AP Chemistry during junior year? I managed to get the grade up the following semester. How detrimental will it be to my applcation?

It won’t kill you, and the damage is already done.

How did you end up doing on the AP? Did you take the Sat II? I have always thought that high AP scores can make up (at least a little bit) for lower grades in a certain class.

Don’t colleges only see your final grades on your transcripts?

Since I live on the East coast, my scores haven’t arrived yet. However, I studied a great amount for the test and found it rather easy (I had late testing). I’m expecting a 4 or 5. As far as SATII goes, I’m planning on taking it on the next test date after some intense studying.

I believe colleges see semester grades. The C+ came from a 79 one quarter and an 86 the next. For my school, that ends up as a C+ for the semester. The second semester isn’t a big deal because I got a B+ and an A, so hopefully they’ll see I worked on improving that grade.

wowwww at my school a 79 is a B

I’m jealous  For my school the grades are in ten point increments, with the pluses being the last three points.
For example:
70-76 = C
77-79 = C+
