lol. snow day...
at our school, they sent us the WRONG TESTS!!!
they were the right answer sheets, but we had to email and call them and they then emailed the test to us and then we had to take it after school....
originally it was supposed to be 1st and 2nd periods.

I failed that..so much for making AIME for another year...

=( do you think that i can get a 10 on the AIME ... :(

should i even try or put my time into Bio and Chem?

does anyone have answers?

Don't talk about answers yet.

AoPS has answers posted.

i failed :|

Art of Problem Solving Forum

Now it's all open for discussion.

i made aime lol
r school told us today
the cut off was 97.5

darn, really? 97.5 That means I didn't even get that... how sad :( I was really hoping I would get it again this year.

was 97.5 for amc a or b or both?

Just A for right now. Qualifying scores for the B haven't been determined yet.

is qualifying for aime a big deal
like do admission officers look highly upon it...

Is the 97.5 cutoff only for the AMC 12A? or is it also for AMC 12B?

i took the amc 12A and for that it was 97.5
idk about amc 12B So its prob diff for B

103 woo hoo!!! one more wrong and I would've been .5 point short

i think the B was harder, so the cutoff i think you can count on it not being higher than a 97.5

and i dunno if AIME qualification is big...USAMO qualification is tho, u can basically get into any college...

one of my friends last year was a USAMO qualifier...she's now at harvard

uhh yea USAMO is huge (if you make MOP after USAMO, Ill say you are almost guareenteed any college as long everything else is par or better). Hopefully I can make it this year (since I dont have another "huge" national award)...

I dont know how much AIME means but its like top 8000 people so its still gotta count for something.

Perfect score on AMC probalby mean something too, which sucks because I missed it on the 10B by 1 question (yea im complaining sorry)

yea i didnt know the amc scores counted towards the next qualifiers or i would have made my educated guess on two of the harder problems which were apparently right i would of a got a 115 instead of a 100.5
but w.e

how many people from ur school made it this year

12 out of like 200 in mine

The 8000 AIME group include students from 6th grade to 13th grade and international students. So, your grade level only takes a fraction of it. Many people who have 800 in SAT-I math or SAT-II Math may not make AIME. So, it does count a lot.

hmm but i'm sure AIME isn't too noteworthy for like MIT which recieves apps from IMO winners and MOPpers...
