*** The AP European History Practice Thread ***

I haven’t written that many essays, because my teacher never assigned them. But I’m pretty sure I can get a 7/8 on the DBQ, since thats core + bias on more than four articles + outside info. The FRQ, I don’t know. I showed my teacher a FRQ I wrote and he said it was excellent. Then he said I was on my way to a 5/6. IDK what that means.
Anyways, I’ve written 2-3 DBQs and 4-5 FRQs

I wouldn’t choose that FRQ question, but generally, the enclosure movement angered traditional farmers, and bankrupted some farmers who were forced to work in the cities and in factories, spurring the growth of industry.

I’ve never taken AP before, so take this with a grain of salt, but . .
DBQ:Categorize quickly, go through the documents fast while you’re writing the actual essay and make sure to connect each documents to the thesis and analyze bias. The prep books are excellent at helping with this.
FRQ: These are harder. I would suggest preparing topics for each time period (Renaissance, Enlightenment, WWI, Communism) before the test and learning those. Choose one you know pretty well. A solid thesis and organization is very important.

Question: Describe the Enclosure Movement and its effect on the industrial revolution in England.

The English government/monarchy was always looking for ways to increase their wealth. What previously occured was the seizure of catholic church land, however the Enclosure Movement offered a unique method to increase profit without “breaking the rules.”

Before the Enclosure Movement, the land was shared by everybody, and everybody just “knew” which land was theirs. However, the monarchy decided to execute their devine right in England by seizing the land and enclosing it, after which they then sold to people who could afford the land.

The rest is pretty basic. The people who were on the land had no where to go except the cities. So they went to the cities to work and helped carry on the industrial revolution…

I took the AP Euro exam as a sophomore last year, I was really tense as it was my first AP exam ever. I got a 4. How?
AP ACHIEVER study book! Our text book was not that great, just really difficult to read… But the achiever made it so much easier!

This year I am using 5 steps to a 5 to study for AP US though…

Just for reference’s sake, the Berlin wall just fell in my class.

what grade would i get on the ap if i got this:
65/80 MC (15 wrong)
5 DBQ
5 FRQ
5 FRQ

either a high 4 or low 5?

^You would have gotten a low 5 had you taken the 2009 test; however you would have gotten a high 4 had you taken the 2004 or 1999 test.

Same response as LightSource
[AP Pass - AP Euro Calculator](AP European History Test Score Calculator - AP Pass)

On the 2009 test, a composite score of 121 was a 5

^Yes, a composite of 121 was a 5, but a 115-120 was also a 5.
Where can I find some old AP Euro Exams?

Where did the Iron Curtain not fall peaceably? Describe the major events.

Romania. The leaders tried to hold on to power, but they were eventually executed.

In the same strain…
Josip Broz Tito led this eastern european communist nation away from the Soviet Union and towards “national communism”. What country?

Hmm…I read this yesterday. How do I not remember? I think it’s Yugoslavia?

^It may be Yugoslavia, but I think he’s Croatian. I just remember reading that in the book and thinking “Cool. I’ve been to Croatia.” Or maybe not? Now I’m second guessing myself… :X

^ Ok. I was just reviewing for AP Euro and I came across this section. He led Yugoslavia. But he was from the Kingdom of Croatia-Slavonia.

Yup, you were right— its Yugoslavia (which doesn’t exist anymore as a country).

<a href=“Supporting Students from Day One to Exam Day – AP Central | College Board”>Supporting Students from Day One to Exam Day – AP Central | College Board;

I took the 38 sample questions from there and got a god damn 10 out of 38. I really did not think I was that dumb.

I think that those questions were pretty difficult- I got like 20ish out of the 38, which has me worrying… has anyone else looked at them?

I sure hope so…

So I followed darknight’s advice and read Crash Course (even though I already had two other prep books) from cover to cover and I got a 5 on my mock AP exam today :]

I was originally set get a 3 or 4, but after reading Crash Course in two hours (I skimmed it), my mc score took a 20 point jump.

It’s a great review book; I would recommend it to everyone.

I just tried to open that link and I got a message: “The file is damaged and could not be repaired.”

I got a 5 on this exam last year as a sophomore; I was going to open it and see how many of those questions I could still get right, and maybe help you all get a gauge of where you are and where you should be to meet your goals. Could anyone give me a “fixed” link if possible? Thanks.
