mccain feingold reform acts limits the amount of soft money

McCain-Feingold Reform Act doesn’t limit soft money, it eliminates it.

Now, instead of soft money donations, many interest groups must create 527 organizations to make donations to a political party. The catch is that such donations must be INDEPENDENT of any campaign.

McCain-Feingold Reform Act made soft money illegal…“hard money” is from political donations…“Soft money” is money donated to political parties from individuals.

I think hard money is just contributions given directly to support a candidate while soft money is money given to a party not directly in support of the candidate but can be used for things such as advertisements that can bash the opponent as long as it doesn’t endorse the other candidate. Soft money was unregulated until the McCain-Feingold reform act (Budget Campaign Reform Act) (2002 I believe).

wat do u think are sum important court cases and amendments that we have 2 know?

Know at least 1st 10 amendments, plus 13, 14, 15, 17, 18, 19, 21 and 26.

In terms of court cases…theres a ton but some that jump out are Marbury v Madison, McCulloch v Maryland, Plessy v Ferguson, Brown v Board, Roe v Wade, Bush v Gore, Engle v Vitale, Lemon v Kurtzman, Scheck v US, Texas v Johnson, Tinker v Des Moines, Gibbons v Ogden, Gitlow v New York, Gideon v Wainright and Miranda v Arizona

14th amendment is big.
Court cases: Plessy v. Ferguson, UC regents v. Bakke, Bush v. Gore, McCulloch v. Maryland, marbury v. Madison, Brown v. Board, Engel v. Vitale, Griswald v. Connecticut, US v. Lopez, Abbington v, Schempp, Texas v. Johnson, Mapp v. Ohio, Palko v. Connecticut, Baker v. Carr, Shaw v. Reno.

I know there’s more but thats all I can think of on the top of my head.

Yea, actually 14th amendment is much more important than even a lot of the amendments in the bill of rights. Know that it guarantees equal protection of the laws and eventually worked to apply the bill of rights to the states.

****.

This test is tomorrow, isn’t it?

yupppp!!..

Damn it. I have to pull an all nighter, and I have to take the French exam as well that day.

I should’ve started studying for this one earlier!

I started self studying 3 hours ago. Procrastination is the only way to get things done.
Quick question, on the essays should they be structured like an apush essay (thesis, supporting paragraphs, conclusion) or should I just use the outline (a. , b. c., etc) and write a paragraph for each?

just use the outline (a. , b. c., etc) and write a paragraph for each

DONT!!

jsut WRITE!!!

why?

here is why…

lets say it asks 2 questions: Qa and Qb

lets say u DO outline and put:

Qa. your answer here

and Qb: ur answer here

EVERYTHING U RIGHT IN THOSE OUTLINED AREAS WILL ONLY COUNT FOR THAT MARKED AREA

whereas if u jsut right, if u happen to remember a part of Qa that u did not put before, u can sneak it in in ur answer to Qb

ok, I will follow the outline, but without writing down the letters.

If anyone’s still awake: CDAPGOVREVIEW (AIM chat)

If I finish the exam early, am I allowed to sleep?

By the way, how late is everyone staying up? I’m thinking 2am or so… but that’s only because I’m good at functioning on little to no sleep.

im going to bed in about thirty minutes - i need my sleep! been studying alllllllll day. even skipped church!
