The AP US History Study Thread

trade between New World, Africa and Europe. basically: Slaves from Africa to New World (Middle Passage), sugar and tobacco from New World to Europe, European goods to Africa.

Q: Who were the two 'holdout' states concerning the Constitution?

i thought i answered your question...

what do you mean?

oh and ziggy, they were NC and RI

How did the colonies take advantage of salutary neglect(one of my favorite history terms)?

ziggy edited his post
he said that his question was above before he edited it

were the states rhode island and north carolina?
i'm not too sure on this one but here's my question anyway:
who founded the massachusetts bay colony?

It would be those who signed the Mayflower Compact, the foremost being William Bradford

How did the colonies take advantage of salutary neglect?

Massachussetts Bay Colony was John Winthrop, wasn't it? The signers of the Mayflower Compact founded Plymouth, which only much later became a part of the Massachussetts Bay Colony.

youre right, i wasnt entirely sure so i just said what i was thinking.

Yes, it was Winthrop...I might have asked the question a couple of pages back as a matter a fact....;)

Since GB did not enforce the Navigation Acts (I think), colonies were able to have a sense of self-rule and were able to to get around the Navigation Acts by bribing if necessary? [This might be a total stretch...]

Although the stock market crash of the 1929 is often associated with the Great Depression, what factors actually out weigh the crash.

ya willact, thats what i was looking for. They were able to trade to get what they needed without GB, also got to try out self-government and realized they could do it.

And, I dont know what you mean by your question

willact4food-I don't know what the hell you're talking about, but I'll try to answer. GB didn't enforce the Navigation Acts during the Period of SALUTARY NEGLECT (write this down, big points if you use it on an essay-not really, but it's a positive) and therefore the colonial traders became complacent and when GB decided to enforce it again, the colonists are like "***?" and decided to revolt. Basically.

The stock market crash of 1929 predicted the Great Depression. But the crash was only a minor part of the cause of the depression. It was because of lack of capital investment, too much margin trading, and deflation and some other reason, just don't remember.

Oh, hey people :D
I'm going to cry if I don't get a 5 on the AP.

YAY, I hateCA.

Errrrm...that's what I sort of said in response to the salutary neglect question...maybe you didn't see the did not...is the bribary completely off based. Then when did US merchants bribe tax collectors to look the other way...in regards to sugar and rum...?

I want a 5 so badly. But I erm, need to start doing my HW from the Cold War onwards. o_0 I remember practically nothing from the first term of APUSH. I have faith...I got a 3 in AP Euro by just reading the Barrons review book...and I actually did the work this year for APUSH.

ah, no questions for me to answer, so ill ask

The 1970s and 1980s saw an increase in all of the following except:
A) the influence of Christian fundeamentalism
B) the average age of Americans
C) support for consumer and environmental movements
D) the number of women holding political office
E) the percentage of two-parent households

E

What was the reasoning behind publishing the Warren Commission and the mysterious "Magic Bullet"?

to assure the people that Oswald acted alone and that the bullet trajectory was possible(was it really?)

ha, have to write an essay this week with the prompt: Who killed Kennedy?

What was the CIA's first work in Central America?

training Cuban exiles in Nicaragua for the Bay of Pigs

what was the Morril land grant act?

was it the bay of pigs fiasco?
does cuba even count as central america?

is it just me or does it feel like the more i study the more i realize how much more i have to do and how much i'm going to fail...

meh, probably the land grants to colleges...giving us the current Land Grant Trophy for the winner of the Penn State-Michigan State football game

What was the more popular name for the Compromise of 1877?

corrupt bargain?

What was the compromise of 1877?

It was an informal deal worked out between the two political parties. Hayes would become president if he would immediately end federal support for Reps in the south and also support thr building of a southern transcontinental RR.

What was the Wade-Davis Bill? (1864)

it made it hard for southern states to rejoin the union

what was the CCC and who was president?
