I finished high school this year in Ghana, Africa. I had 7As and 1B, according to the Ghanaian educational system in my final exam. I'm looking to apply to an American college; Architecture. I've always been a straight A student so I'm hoping to get a major scholarship. My portifolio's not as strong as it should be so the scholarship would probably have to be more academic centered.
I'm hoping to apply to a college in a warm/relatively warm state. But I can't even decide which!?
Any comments?!!

O and I’m taking ACTs in October; I hope to score 30+
And i might take SATs as well…

hey shishishe, im also in Ghana and planning to pursue architecture as well. are you done with your application? maybe we could link up and design the portfolios together? Ps: i did visual art in school so i’m pretty good at art.

@cashkizzle- please don’t cheat and submit a portfolio that isn’t all your own work. It’s not fair on other applicants. It’s not fair on yourself or the other person. If you get in, it’ll be obvious if you’re lacking in a particular area. And could get you thrown out if discovered making an American education nigh impossible after that…

@highland_poppy nobody is trying to cheat. we’re just trying to help each other complete the portfolio. Besides, i dont need help on mine, just companionship and a little criticism. I mailed some schools recently. they told me they wished they were around to ‘help’ me complete my portfolio. Your comment is therefore implausible.

Sorry Cashkizzle, I apologise for my assertion.

However, it wasn’t implausible (unfortunate, maybe) as your exact words were, ‘maybe we could link up and design the portfolios together? Ps: i did visual art in school so i’m pretty good at art’. There wasn’t any talk of helping each other. You said design the portfolios together and mentioned that you were good at art which could easily be interpreted as you offering to do the art side of things while she contributed something else.

It might have been better to phrase it as asking ‘to lend each other support and/or give feedback to each other’. Unfortunately, there are some very dishonest students out there and the cynical amongst us might interpret your words in another way. I’m possibly being over critical which isn’t my intention either, I just want to suggest that when you come to write your application and portfolio, the clarity of what you’ve written is also important.

Good luck with your application!

There’s a number of good architectural programs in the southern united states. Rice, University of Texas, Auburn, and the University of Arkansas, to name a few. Some require portfolios and some don’t, it just depends on the program. Good luck!
