my english teacher that I have had for the past 3 years only talks about the pleasures of rhode island even though we live in California. My AP psychology teacher didnt care an would just give practice tests that were the tests and everyone would get A's. Also in that class all we would do is talk and dance. In AP biology i think the teacher was bipolar. One minute she is all happy and the next thing she is crying because her fiance cheated on her with her sister and that happened 25 years ago. Then the next minute she announces a party and the next minute she is crying because because no one put the cap on the marker and it was just as bad next year when i had her for anatomy. Then we had this psycho math teacher that made the test like 50 questions in 40 minutes and im not talking about single step problems, but multiple solutions and graph everything. She flunked everybody but three people and the highest grade was a C.

My freshman year literature teacher was a cross country coach who bought alcohol for students on cross country trips. She wasn't even fired, she was asked to move to a neighboring school. They're letting her coach there. Go figure.

My math teacher for two years always had a knife with him. He said it was his duty as a Fillipino. He was awesome.

I go to a school in Macon GA, so everyone stop complaining. I can do it all for everyone.

then go ahead
i want to hear horror stories

Yes, do tell, shingge!

Good idea, I will after 1/1.

but for starters, the only "Dr." in our school, is a coach. Most of our teachers went to GA college and state univ or some crappy place. about 30% have less than 2 years of experiences. what i'm trying to say is that they can't teach.

though good thing is that only one or two teacher is these crazy kind that fails everyone. Everyone else just basically passes students to make themselves look good. Our Stat class watched Shrek 2 the week before the AP test, and everyone got a "A"

O our ap bio class didn't get lab books this year but all the coaches got completely new laptops and printers and some other tech stuff that they never uses. i mean they are coaches!

well my ap bio class didnt have lab books at all and we didnt even have textbooks until the second semester

Well, the odds that Shrek Two is a horrible, mindless film is certainly a statistical anomaly in Stat class, no? [end lame humor]

O I guess i feel sorrier for you, jmarin. At least we had textbooks. It's just that coaches got laptops.

yeah that sucks when you see funds allocated in the wrong place

my ap english teacher sucks! he is really mean (he staples mcdonalds applications on essays that are really bad), gay (as in homosexual), and keeps giving me 4s on my essays! when i ask him to help me improve, he pushes my paper back and simply replies, "you will get better as the year goes on." it is second semester and i'm still getting 4s! he is the most lazy and pompous man ever!

My IB Biology HL teacher is horrible. The class consist of only 9 students, many of whom (including myself) did extremely well in AP Biology. IB is different, however, in that it calls for self-made experimentation and self-studying. Basically no one in the class has an A because we'd all usually bomb his super-hard tests (on one of his tests, an answer was located in one line of the assigned 20 page text!). The entire classed basically bombs one test with all C's and D's but he refuse to curve or drop the test. The guy thinks he is the best teacher out there and that we should all be capable of meeting his damn high standards. It sucks because our valedictorian is in that class and got his first B last semester. Sucks more for me because I receive my first C ever due to that class (I received an A and a score of 4 in AP Biology).

Aha, some of these are pretty bad lol. My bad teacher incident takes place back in middle school. In 7th grade, I had the laziest pre-algebra teacher ever. He tried to convince us periodically throughout the year that no teacher in high school or college would ever bother to explain things to you; you had to learn all of the formulas and methods yourself, and only disrupt the teacher when you were stuck on a homework problem. On top of that, this guy just played computer solitaire the entire class ,and whenever students had questions, which was pretty much every minute of every class, he would just tell us to ask a friend, or get impatient. Hilariously, half way through the year, this guy had his nose broken by a loose hammer that fell from loose from a high-resting place in his tool shed. We always referred to it as the "Hammer of Karma". Anyway, he ended up being completely wrong about the whole teachers not teaching you anything, and all of our grades suffered pretty badly as a result of his lack of teaching.

I've contemplated going back to the school and telling him how wrong he is in a matter-of-fact tone...and since I'm a senior, and in a few months I won't have much to lose, I think I just might.

I really only disliked my Physics teacher, but my AP World History teacher was pretty bad. I liked him because he was nice...he was just a sucky teacher. He'd leave while we were testing and left the answers on his desk. So some of the people sitting close to his desk cheated. No one ever said anything and the teacher never figured it out. His tests were a joke since the review was the exact same thing as the test. We never practiced the essays.

Well, we did once, but we never got taught how to write them and he never told us what we were doing wrong. It was my first AP test and I did so poorly on it. Most people got a 2 on the test. The chapters...no one ever read them. He said, "Reap chapters blah blah," but since the review was the same as the test, it didn't matter if we read them. There were no discussions over the chapters either. The only thing we ever did in class were worksheets and all we did was look them up online since the textbook's website had the answers.

Then we'd just say we weren't done and goofed off during class. It was a cake class. All he did was sit at his desk doing who knows what. The guy was a coach, though. The previous World History teacher ran off with the AP Art teacher and they got married. So second semester was taught by my teacher. And they let him teach the next year, which is when I had him. So he had no experience with AP and he was a coach. Not a good combo at all.

I feel your pain...
I was suspended for making a "virus" which was really just using a part of notepad
Plus I was placed with students who were suspended for sexual harassment..
Mine was just a simple mistake.. nowhere close to S.H.

I was placed with the Devil's freaks of nature
One of the girls inside the suspension room stayed there all year because she kept cursing the teacher everyday so that she could stay in suspension
I really don't understand why she would want to do that
I also helped out like 5 of them understand most of their Algebra homework
Strangely it gave me some opportunity to tutor students
Well I feel all of your pain
I mean come on.. notepad?? a virus that is going to damage the school network??? I hope not
I feel relieved that I can put my pain on the NET
Thanks for the thread

I forgot this before:

An IB Biology HL teacher is in trouble in our school because he would copy whole pages of Wikipedia articles and put them on the overhead and have students read them for the whole class. He didn't even delete all the little blue links that are in Wikipedia articles. Pathetic.

Argh. I just have to add to this with my rant. My freshman year Honors English teacher obviously had no clue how to teach an Honors class. We literally learned nothing. We read two Shakespeare plays (one in which he had us read aloud, and wouldn't let anyone besides him be Romeo) and basically nothing else. He grades on a point system, where one essay/project counts as 100 points and all quizzes, etc. were basically 3-5 points. (I took the time to add up our points at the end of one semester: 100 points on one project and 78 on everything else.) The first semester, we had one project (YES, ONE. PROJECT. No essays, nothing.) It should have been easy, but he gave me a B- because he felt I didn't address one half of the room as much as I did the other (it was a freaking 3-4 minutes max. book report). It was because I should have spent equal time talking to the left side as much as I did the right side. So I got a B+ in the class. The second semester, we had one essay and watched movies all semester long. (No, I really am serious. We watched School of Rock twice, some random "totally awesome" movies, and then he talked about himself.) On my essay, it was an "evaluate life" kind of thing. I talked about how stressful life was with the human desire for competition and beating others. He gave me a C because, and I am quoting what he wrote on my essay, "You clearly do not have a full understanding of life." Yes he said that. I am really ****ed off, because when he showed us our grades (with the points add up) it was the 25 points he took away that gave me a B. Otherwise, I would have gotten an A. Argh. Worst class in my life, and that includes my PE and accounting classes. (And those three horrible days I spent in AP Chem.)

sigh

All these bad teachers make you think the schools are failing you. =/ I wish there were better teachers.

I had a bad middle school algebra teacher. I asked her how to do smoethng on a review packet and she told me it was 3 days before a test and she couldnt spend time teaching me things. I was like isnt that ur freakin job? Then this year are AP bio teacher does a power point presentation EVERY DAY that we take notes on. She just reads the slides, which she gets from the same company the makes the book, and the slides are the same as the book. There is no point in reading, they even have the same pictures. We have labe every 2 weeks, so we have to miss the class before it which upsets those teachers, and we usually dont do anything excpet double the slides.
