I know. So I was thinking of taking Edexcel FM, hence the perpetual confusion.

Edexcel FM is pretty easy if you take your time and plan ahead. Other than units like M4 S3 FP2 and FP3 most other units are pretty easy and can be covered by self tutoring.

From what I know one of my friends who took CIE FM went completely berserk due to the toughness of the subject.

hi, um from bangladesh too. I
ve just completed my HSC. hoped to get an A+ but instead I got GPA 4.3. I wanted t get myself admitted into a decent university in the US. now I don
t know what`s coming my way. good to see other bangladeshi ppl here

Shagotom :D

No problem feel free to post your problems and questions here
We all will be happy to help you :)

The Common Application 2011-2012 is now open for students interested in applying in Fall 2012 or Spring 2012 session to US colleges :)

Hey!!! College apps are gonna take me forever. Great to see new members on the thread. Good luck with applications everybody ;)

Even though I’m not doing A levels, I know from my sis that Further Maths is HARD… she was a straight A student but couldn’t handle it XD But no pressure lol!!!

I’m in IB and I’m doing English SL, Math HL, Economics HL, Spanish ab initio, Chemistry HL and Physics HL. But IB has a lot of other extra essay writing and mandatory ECA work too which makes life a living hell sigh

So where are you all looking to apply?

Hopefully some LACs like Macalaster Kenyon Pomona and universities like Rice Northwestern Duke Cornell

Wbu?

Looking at Brown, Stanford, Mellon, and the unreacheable Princeton. (not that the others are in any way easy). maybe Clark and Vandy as well.

Mellon?
Don’t you need Fin aid?

Oh wow, Mellon gives no aid. I just got to know that…i cant believe it. This sucks man.

I know dude

The universities that are good in comp sci and engineering like Mellon G tech Notredame
Purdue UCLA USC and Berkeley doesnt offer any fin aid for internationals :(

hi
wait do financial aids actually cover most of the costs??

Depends on your “need”

Say you can pay 5000 USD then if you get admitted you would have to pay that amount
So your fin aid would cover the part you can’t pay i.e the cost beyond 5000 USD

However each college has its own fin aid dept which has a different system of calculation to determine how much you can pay and how much aid you deserve so costs can vary from college to college even if your expected family contribution is same.

BTW any of you giving SAT this October?

I am giving SAT IIs in oct. I will repeat SAT I in nov.

man… I havent even started prepping for SATs yet. lol

@deadbent SAT I takes about a month or a month and a half of preparation, assuming that you have basic language skills and good logical math skills.
SAT IIs on the other hand are a pain in the ass, esp because of the number of questions.

Yup I gave my SAT IIs last year when I didnt even finish the syllabus
