Since my freshman year of high school, I have taken a vast interest in business. However, I don't really now what I want to pursue within the business field. I have been suggested so many things from accounting to computational finance. At the same time, I have my dad telling me it is extrememly hard to excel within business field unless you have an Ivy league label. Could some of you verify my father's claim and also provide me with possible major/career advice (along with potential colleges for a business career)?

SAT:2120
CR:650 M:750 WR: 720

Math II: 710
Chemistry:720

ACT: hoping to score 33 (taking in september)

Id say theres a lot of success in the business field if you dont go to the Ivy Leagues hes probally just referring to the major banks CEO’s.

Your dad is, generally speaking, right. But that’s for an MBA. I would highly encourage you to do your undergraduate in another field, perhaps one you want to work in when the time comes. After that, work in that field for several years, then apply for an MBA at such a school.

I have heard of people going to Operations Research or Economics in favor of business majors since they intend on going into MBA. I would suggest something heavily Quant based as it will help show you can “cut it”.

Not unless your trying to go into Investment Banking, Ivy League isnt important.
Schools to consider:

UT Austin
NYU
University of Michigan
Indiana U
UNC

What do you think about finance? Will that major/career be needed?
