Okay, so we all know that there are hundreds of prep books that claim, "300 points higher- guaranteed!" "Perfect 2400" But with so many out there, I have no idea which to choose! Should I go for a book which is more difficult than the test or the closest to it? I'm looking for a book(s) that:

*provide a smorgasbord of practice problems WITH explanations
* excellent math section and can help me find common equations/problems that come up on the test

What are your favorite book(s) for each section?
Which has the best practice problems?
Which helped your score increase the most?
Which do not work at all?

Not to sound like a broken record, but I got the CB Blue Book before this last test and it helped unbelievably. When I took the SAT in June, I literally skipped like 15 math questions, but when I took it last Saturday, there wasn’t one question that I couldn’t confidently answer. The downside is that the answers to the practice tests aren’t explained in the book, but there’s a thread somewhere on CC with the consolidated explanation threads for most of the problems. Besides that, it’s the only practice book produced by the College Board itself. It’s a no-frills approach. You’re not “guaranteed” anything - you get out what you put in. I probably didn’t answer your question, but at any rate I thought I’d respond.
The book I used before taking the last one was from Sparknotes… it has explanations and stuff, but I found several mistakes (and not just printing mistakes - real mathematical errors, grammatical mistakes, etc) and that kind of made me skeptical about how good of a book it was. But, realistically, I guess any book that helps explain a concept you don’t understand will probably help you at least a little.
