Hi, I’m new to this site and I really need help or advice on how to get a high score on the SATs on the first try. But I’m really worried because I’m in 11th grade and I recently received my ACT score and it was a 18. I was really bummed out when I saw the score, so I decided to see if I can do better on the SAT, which I’m registered to take in May. Also I’m already practicing with the “Cracking the SAT with 5 Practice Tests, 2014 Edition” by Princeton Review , but I feel like I’m not improving or the information isn’t processing right to me. Please send me your suggestions or advice I will highly appreciate it.
Do more practice, but make sure you understand your mistakes. Get the “blue book,” the official Collegeboard SAT practice book. You’ll be using it a lot. I took a class based on this book that had me do all 10 practice tests, doing 1-3 sections at a time over a 3 month period. I found that looking at my mistakes and learning from what I did wrong improved my scores on similar questions, and the constant practice taught me to recognize the quirks and tricky questions on the SAT. Becoming very familiar with the SAT before actually taking it is the best way to score high on test day.
