NEED ADVICE TO SCORE 2000+ in SAT 1 !!!

Even though my title says it all, I would like to say it again if someone could give me advice how to score 2000+ in SAT 1. My last result was only 1850 the last time I gave it.

Guys I'd really appreciate if you take out a minute, and put forth your opinion or suggestion.

Thanks in advance!!

What was the breakup of the SAT score?

In general, I’d say you should take all the official SAT practice tests from the blue book and maybe Princeton Review. From my experience at least, once you acquaint yourself with the weird stuff in the SAT, the best way to improve your scores is by taking tests.

In my opinion, Kaplan is the best book for learning and the BB is the best for practicing. Try to take a practice test every week, and do practice questions as you work through chapters.

i got:
720 in maths
570 in Critical Reading
560 in Writing

Thanks Qwerty1739 for the help.

Thanks sg12909

No, no, no. The Kaplan book is terrible, don’t ever use it. It spends a great deal of time flaunting the so-called “Kaplan strategies” and other such nonsense. Get the Princeton Review book - it seems to be more tailored to you as a test taker.

For practice, you can get dozens of SAT practice tests from books, the internet, etc.

Poisonivy is right Kaplan is terrible and is a lot easier than the real thing

Do every test in the blue book and you will be in the high 2000s in a few weeks
and go to your school library and use all the SAT books they have in case you run out of tests
( I am assuming you can improve your math score and English is not your strength

Math 720 + around 30-40

critical reading 570 + 100 …critical reading is really easy and vocab is 50 easy points

writing 560 + 40 ETS tests just 20 grammar rules and write a 5 paragraph essay so this should be easy
)

and try and do the entire test in one go. It may seem hard at first but the hardest thing on the SAT is sitting for 3 hours and being focussed.
… and CHEW GUM.

Kaplan got me a 2240. So it depends on you.

thanks savemylife

The SAT is really repetitive in its patterns, so like the other members said, just doing practice tests should help you a lot. The questions in the tests are all practically the same concept tested in the same way over and over.

Also, if English is not necessarily your strength, try the ACT. Apparently it focuses less on grammar and there’s no negative marking, so you may do better on that one.

Khione is right the SAT is a standardized test so it is supposed to have a set pattern.

But the ACT has an English section which is just a huge form of the paragraph correction found in the end of the writing section on the SAT so the fact that the ACT does not stress on grammar is huge misconception .

In that case, sorry. I’ve never take the ACT, just going by the comments I’ve read from CCers :P

You need to mainly work on the reading and writing. Are there any prep classes that you can go to? I think your math score is fine, but colleges will see your SAT breakdown, so you need to increase your practice in the English sections. I don’t know about specific prep books though.

Barron’s and Princeton Review were by far the best books that I learned from, and I used Sparknotes and Kaplan, as well as the Blue Book. More Barron’s; it got me a 2320.

I pulled up my writing score in my last SAT by going through essay topics and brainstorming points for each. If you write them down, you’ll notice that you can use the same example for more than one essay.
For CR I’d say practice is the best method. And a good vocabulary list which you should keep revising.
