The Campus and medical school

So I got accepted to harvey mudd and i'm beyond happy! I'm just waiting for my financial aid letter right now and I'm a little worried because campuses are very important to me so I was trying to find out more about what the campus looks like and the videos I found about the dorms kind of scared me a little :p Can anyone talk more about the campus and dorms please? Also campus life? Is it very very academically oriented?

I also plan to attend medical school hopefully. Does anyone know how good Harvey mudd is with that because i've heard grade deflation brings everyone's GPA really low so does that affect admission to med school or do medical schools know this?

Thank you in advance! again, so excited :D

I don’t know where you are from, but if it is possible you should go to the admitted students weekend and check the campus out. The dorms are kind of beat up, but Mudd offers a warm and supportive environment that seems to be focused on the on-campus living. So don’t be put off by it. I actually like campus at Mudd, it is a friendly place in a utilitarian way, but all you have to do is walk across the street to Scripps for a prettier environment if that is what you want, and few more minutes walk to Pomona which looks like something out of the Northeast – but with better weather.

If med school is your ultimate goal, you should know that the uber tough curriculum and lack of grade inflation, lead to lower gpa’s than you would be used to, and that can be an impediment to med school admission. I will let others weigh in on that one though. You are right that Mudd is very very academic. I might through in another couple of very’s to capture it. But is a great place and I can’t imagine a better place for my son to have gotten an education. He can always sleep after graduation :-)
