You know, I don’t want to be a killjoy, but I’m inclined to say that this guy is trolling. If he’s being honest, then it’s absolutely ridiculous how his school is behaving, but I just can’t see a private school forcing him to come in 90 minutes early to tape his door shut…obviously, if this ends up in the news as a valid story, I’ll retract my comment.

^ Meh. This is quite the story if it were really true… but I just can’t see it happening. I can’t imagine any school administration to be as nonsensical as what OP described. Though if I’m wrong and the guy has been truthful all along, then my apologies.

It sounds like this school is a dictatorship almost…

I agree, now it seems like the OP is a ■■■■■. “Taping the doors shut” doesn’t even make sense. It doesnt take 90 minutes to tape a door anyways.

If the OP is a ■■■■■, OK.

In any case, certain universities and even high schools will kick YOU out if you have any knowledge of cheating but fail to report it. The US Naval Academy is one.

lol how could they possibly prove you had knowledge of cheating. you can’t prove something like that unless it’s based on hearsay or you were recorded saying something about it.

frankly, i’m kind of appalled at the testing conditions that some of y’all are describing. in my school district, all of the kids from all the different high schools all go the city’s convention center and take the exam all together. we have proctors who aren’t biased towards any school that are all around the room walking up and down to see us. we sit six to a table and we’re all about a yard and a half or so away from each other. there is absolutely NO way that we can cheat and not get caught. they even have us put sticky notes with our names on them on our cell phones and have us turn them in to a table at the front of the room to make sure that we can’t even think of texting during the test.

a lot of y’all are saying you take the AP exams at your school with proctors that are from your own school. i feel like that just encourages cheating and testing irregularities.

basically, go you, OP. you’re doing the right thing. it’s a crappy, unfortunate, and completely ridiculous situation you’re in right now because of this. i’m glad you’re sticking by your guns and not only sticking up for yourself, but sticking up for all us AP kids out there who are counting on people’s honesty to keep the curve’s fair.

Yeah…only the APES and another test are at my school (smaller tests), in the gym, with kids sitting 15ish feet apart. Most are held at a church, where we all get our own table and we sit about 15 feet apart. We take our test with only one other school. Proctors from our school monitor them and proctors from their school monitor us. The proctors hold on to our phones for us (they also do the post-it note thing). I feel it’s a pretty good system.

Hey guys. My life has been kinda crazy lately and I just read the comments. I feel I need to “come clean”:

I have clinical Asperger’s and that affects my perception of certain things. Particularly in my case, I see things as EXTREMELY black or white, and sometimes I misrepresent reality.

So: it turns out based on videotape evidence that the whole chair issue that I may have seen was false. The open packet was one kid only but he was officially allowed the extra time.

My school did threaten expulsion but then changed to probation and now mostly normal except for the whole sealed room bit.

I did have to get up at 6:30 to be at school by 7 - I should’ve said that.

So: the OTI investigation is over and I basically misunderstood the whole situation (I just got off the phone with Patricia from OTI on friday) because of my Asperger’s. I’m sorry for exciting you guys for no reason :’(

Jonathan.

poor kid…

^^This is why you don’t whistleblow. shrug

Will someone please close this thread now.

lego606 IS THE KING OF TROLLS

Plot twist

Meh. 4/10.

Guys, I’m autistic and I see things the wrong way. I’m really sorry :’(

(Asperger’s is mild autism)

This doesn’t change the fact that the OTI released the information to the school, does it?

No it doesn’t, but my claims were false so that could complicate things

But the school is still punishing you for reporting cheating… Even if it wasn’t actually there, you had a good intention. Well, good luck.
