??????????????

which school doesn't? thats why it is on the SAT...

??????????????????????

No weight to SAT-Writing

Undecided

No weight

That's the public policy: it doesn't mean that they "don't look at" the writing scores. For example, if they thought that the essay was beautifully crafted, and the SAT writing score is medicore, it would definitely raise eyebrows, even thought they didn't "weight" the SAT-Writing in assigning academic ratings.

MarathonMan88, I think your site is for last year.

My school counselor told me that if your writing score is good, then it will help you in the admissions process (obviously!). BUT if your score is just mediocre or bad, don't worry too much because it won't hurt your chances.

I think it's stupid that the writing section was included in the SAT I when colleges don't care too much for it. Apparently we're like the "experimental" year for future admissions processes. Collegeboard's just trying to make the SAT more difficult for us by making it longer. Argh :(

thank you everybody here.

Does anyone have the most recent website since lf61's site doesn;t work =(

According to news accounts, the Collegeboard added a writing section to the SAT in response to a threat from the University of California that it would no longer accept SAT scores. The addition of the writing section was one of the changes initiated to placate the UC -- one of the largest consumers of SAT tests in the country.
