The Countdown to Pi Day: Dun Dun Dunnn

Honestly, even though I feel like I’m going to be rejected, I’m glad about it all… not the rejection, but that I actually made it to this point in my life, lol

lol…I’m pretty certain that I’ll get rejected too. I already got deferred EA but oh well…:)

Good to hear some FIRST talk.

I arrived at London Heathrow Airport this morning from Logan after spending the entire week at the FIRST WPI Regional (Team 1884, one of two UK based teams). It’s a bittersweet ending, after 4 great years of robotics and two quarter-final finishes we never made it further. And going to only one regional a year, it’s sad that this might be the end for at least some time. We did win the Animation Award, and the second consecutive year we’ve done that (I am on the animation team), but we were so close to making the semis.

We have 30+ members on our team, and to take them all to America basically takes up 75% of our budget, and means we can’t afford two regionals. However, if we had made it to the Championships, our sponsor promised to send a skeleton crew of 7 to the Championships. It was still a lot of fun and I’m pretty proud of the team’s performance. It was the best robot and performance we’ve ever had.

I was actually Coach, and a close friend (and Driver) also applied to MIT. We’ve decided in the unlikely scenario we are successful, we’ll post on a mutual friend, and current MIT student’s wall (anything, probably something cryptic), so that we can know if one of us did get in without the awkward questioning.

Fortunately, and somewhat unfortunately, I am now on Spring Break, and with robotics over I have nothing else to think about. Plus 9:26 is 1:26 AM on Tuesday, so it’s going to be a long day. Oh well, hopefully my jet lag will steal most of it.

1337 minutes according to the counter!

That stinks. I know the feeling of it being almost over. I consider myself very fortunate to have two regionals to go to. I can’t believe all the good times of FIRST is about to come to a close. I’m gonna miss my robotics family so much. I really do hope that I can go to MIT, that way I can come back and mentor as much as possible and stay with the team. It’s meant so much and done so much for me over the 4 years that there’s no way I can’t not give back.

I do want to try and give it our all at the next comp and I hope that many FIRST students like ourselves make it into MIT to show how good a program FIRST is, and not only that, but that with FIRST and MIT knowledge, that we can go out into the world and really make a difference. Gl to all, only 22 hours or so left!

Omg 22 hours

good luck to everyone! even if you get rejected, you’re still good enough to get in (paradoxical but true.)

i’m an MIT hopeful for the class of 2016  applying EA!

Happy Pi day!!!
Decision(D)-day is upon us.

I am just sad this is coming to an end… I know I have a very very slim chance like a 1-2% but still that little hope kept me fantasizing about all the great stuff I could have done at MIT … sadly its all gonna be crushed by reality in about 20 hours :(

I’ve actually been able to keep myself calm until, but now I am beginning to feel anxious. I barely have a chance to get into MIT, but, who knows, I may get lucky. Good Luck to everyone!

[Countdown to Mar 15, 2011 5:26 AM in Abu Dhabi](<a href=“Time since Mar 15, 2011 5:26 am started in Abu Dhabi”>Time since Mar 15, 2011 5:26 am started in Abu Dhabi) 16 hours till the chord strikes. Best of luck to us all.

Pi day is the best day!

So… you’re my competition… makes threatening gestures
jk of course, good luck to you and everyone getting their decision tonight/tomorrow morning!

Hahaha!

And yes good luck again :)

omg it’s soooo close…

13 hours!!!

<12 hours.

<11 hours.

10 hours 10 minutes

Yup Londonlad, that stinks dude. We’re on the same boat, we can only afford 1 regional a year because we have such a large team. And we only travel out of state every other year, this year being an in state year. Nationals is covered by the school district and a few sponsors that promise to toss in a bit more.

I’m ecstatic that as a Senior I’m able to attend Nationals once more. I wish you the best of luck in your college travels and don’t regret anything, FIRST is a life changing experience and lucky for you your high school is 4 years unlike the 3 years here in Kansas, you got a whole extra year.
