The Desi Thread

That’s good. My family’s kind of the anomaly of all these Indian families nearby. They all go to parties every weekend and there’s food and dancing and fun and my family does absolutely nothing. I just sit in my room and study. MAYBE I’ll go to an Indian party. But usually no. Kinda depressing.

I WANNA B DESI.

how do you become desi. or honorary desi? i wanna be honorary desi!

but im not. not even close. im white. a blank canvas. a canvas that was never painted on and missed its time to be painted so now its destined to be blank, bare, white, nothing. for all of perpetuity. it sucks.

A tanned white dude. That’s the solution to everything, isn’t it?

@omgmakemesmarter, get a tan, if you’re a girl wear a bindi everywhere and say “omg jai ho”. JK, please don’t do that or you’ll piss people off.

Ughh gotta do some SAT prep and then cram chemistry into my brain for my test tomorrow. Yay me.

@AnImpAffliction - i’m weak lolololololololololo

@apandia, what do you mean you’re weak?

Do you guys have an International Night (aka I-NITE) at your school? Some of the nearby schools have one but mine doesn’t because there’s too many white people and not that much cultural diversity. It makes me sad.

lol “i’m weak” denotes that I’m weak frpm laughing at your comment. <a href=“Urban Dictionary: weak”>Urban Dictionary: weak; “omg jai ho”, nice one. :)

I also do not have an International Night with 80% white kids at our school.

Hahaha, okay. I try, lol.

My school’s like 85% white!!! I can count the number of Indians with my fingers! But the school in the town next door is like 85% Indian/Asian. So they have I-NITE.

Also, who here likes Imagine Dragons? I have just become obsessed with their music.

I just realized that one of the words I typed in the last page was bleeped out. I didn’t know they did that on here.

Hey guys. I’m brown to. My parents are from Delhi. I know how you guys feel about stereotypes as they kill me. The saddest part is I do all the activities only an Indian kid would do like tennis and debate

Hey, @tigerman333. Hahaha I feel like every Indian I know plays tennis. Including me, lol. But I don’t do debate…I did it freshman year though.

Do people ever ask you if you’re related to the other Indian kid in the class? That really ticks me off. Like, are you related to all the other white kids here, you idiot??

@AnImpAffliction Haha. I feel ya. I’m like the only Indian boy in my class which is kinda weird but great. I play tennis as well, but I play every other sport as well (For fun and sometimes for school) like football, soccer, baseball, basketball, cricket (LOL), etc.

@Hawkace, wow someone’s sporty. I’m one of the only Desi girls in my grade. There are only 2 others. And 1 Desi boy. So if I have a class with one of them, this one obnoxious white kid will be like “Are you related to so-and-so?” And I’ll be refraining from smacking him with a textbook.

Oh, my favorite questions: “So do you speak Indian?”, “OMG say something in Indian!”, “What’s that red dot that girls wear on their forehead? Does it mean they’re married?”, “So you’re Hindi?”

What were your thoughts on the Miss America thing? I know it happened a while ago, but I’m still a little mad about how much hate she got.

@AnImpAffliction Yeah I know right. Do you speak Indian pisses me off so much? Or stereo types about people thinking of us a terrorists.

@Hawkace I like cricket to and my parents won’t let me play football because it’s to dangerous and Indian people aren’t mean pt to play football

@tigerman333, ugh I know. So annoying.

Today I was walking out from the athletic foyer of my school and there were these freshmen girls standing in the side (a white girl and a Desi girl) and the white girl saw me and then asked the desi girl, “Hey is that your sister?” and the desi girl and I just looked at each other like “Did she really just ask that?” and we were like “no…” but then we introduced ourselves and it turns out she’s Pakistani and now we’re friends.

This thread gives me life (I’m desi too).

i get so much sibling BS as well, vexing to say the least.

Like, do they not realize how stupid of a question that is??
