I am a 16 year old guy, junior in high school, and my dream college is UC Santa Barbara. I live in Northern California, so only about a 5-6 hour drive away from the campus. I feel like if I dont get into that college, I am going to give up on life because I dont want to go to a CC and transfer. I dont know why I dont want to do that, its more of an ego thing. I really want to get in while I'm 18. My grades are mediocre, and I dont think my SAT will be that good, I think I will do average at best (1600-1800) I have around a 3.2 gpa. Today I read that the more you apply in your high school years, and the earlier you do, the higher chance they will accept you. So do you think, if I take my SAT soon and start submitting and keep submitting my applications all the way until senior year, will I eventually get in with mediocre sat and gpa, can I still get in? Or will the frequency of application and the earliness not make a difference. Please dont mention anything about community college right now, I really dont want to hear that right now. I went to the school and fell in love with it, the people, the parties, everything about it. Should I start applying now? (After I take SAT'S)

How about this for a plan? Instead of applying multiple times (which BTW, will be difficult if you do not have you A-H requirements), why don’t you start learning some good study habits. Then, when you get to college, you can actually get something out of it.

Where on earth did you hear that? You can only apply when you’re about to finish all required classes. Also, the only time you can apply to UCs is in November, so there won’t be an opportunity before your senior year.

For UCSB average GPA is a UC weighted 4.0, and average SAT is 1880. Your efforts will be best spent getting your grades and scores in good shape. Good luck!
