Hey there! Since we have under a month until the ED1 decisions go out I thought I'd start a thread for all of us to talk. I am so excited and nervous. Any other hopeful drama majors out there? Oh and anyone else from Philly?

HI, my son is applying ed1. we are from NJ. I heard that rates at other LAC's are through the roof (40%) increase at Wesleyan for example. Haven't heard about Vassar though. What other schools are you thinking about as a backup. My son has started with his other apps and it is making me nervous!

Oh and he is a hopeful drama major as well!

Ahhh! I am extremely nervous, but hopeful! I'm from Kentucky.
I promised all of my friends that if I am accepted I will take them all out to sushi. They are also nervous! :P
The increase in early decision also scares me. The class of 2009 is also a very competitive lot of students - at my school, my class is the most competitive we have ever had.

Hey there... just thought I'd drop by and say best of luck!

Also, when the admissions decisions start to come in, it would be helpful if you all post your stats in a thread along with the admissions decision (there's a code from last year in this thread you could use... http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/vassar-college/434695-ed-i-results.html). It's a great way for future applicants to see how they match up with accepted students.

To any current student (especially littleathiest):
(or anyone who knows the answer to this)
What is the number of student applying to Vassar using ED1 option for class of 2013?

Hey Astrophoenix...

I'm not entirely sure that that data has been released yet. Last year, it wasn't reported to students until after the ED I decisions were mailed out. I'll let you know when/if I hear anything though!

thnx anyway littleathiest :)... I am worried cos ED aplicant number everywhere has gone up...in past years, there were about 700 - 800 ED applicants in Vassar, so I was guessing (wildly) there would be 350 - 400 ED1 applicants. Is that the normal ED1 applicant pool size? what was last year's (different websites have different values)?

we are trying to act calm while surreptitiously glancing at the calendar-only 14 more days!

My son has started the processes of sending out transcripts to other schools-just in case!

Good luck to everyone!

Would love to hear how other ed 1s are coping....what other back up schools are people thinking about? only 13 days left!

Hi, I'm Priyal and I'm an ED1 applicant from Mumbai, India. Eleven days to go :)! I'm really nervous and excited about this, and can't waaaaaiiiiiit! I'm applying to BU and F&M as backups...
I heard Vassar is known for delaying its admission responses, and many students have to call the admissions office up to get them to email them their decision - I hope this isn't true!

i'm reading ann rice's vampire chronicles and harry potter over again to keep myself distracted. ive already gotten into a bad habit about not doing my homework until the morning it is do resulting in a few b's and one F on an anatomy quiz. haha.

if im not accepted i will be applying to middlebury, brown, williams, bard!, BU, CU, sarah lawrence, kenyon, oberlin, and a few others.

Hey, also applied ed1, and am nervously anticipating the result. I'm from the Philly area and plan on a psych major.

Ten days to go :)! This is so strange, EVERYONE on CC is re-reading Harry Potter to get their minds off ED results! And yeah, I know what you mean about the homework thing, I don't get too much done either, I've just lost all desire to work :(
My school allows us to apply to only eight univs in the US, so along with BU as a backup, I'm also applying to Tufts, NYU, Northwestern, Hamilton, Wellesley, and I can't quite make up my mind between Bard and Colgate...

11 days!! :D SO excited!! Luckily, I've been able to distract myself since my school's winter concerts are next week and I have extra rehearsals. Anyway, I hope everyone else is coping with their Harry Potter re-reading, I may have to resort to that once the concerts are done... I should probably maybe get back to doing work now, haha I love senioritis.

My sons are in order of impossibility to safety
Amherst
Brown
cornell
Wash u at St.
Northwestern
Wesleyan
Oberlin
brandeis
Skidmore
Muhlenberg
suny binghamton
Indiana u

I think the true matches are Oberlin, Brandeis, maybe wes and Nortwestern everything else is a reach or a saftey. It was hard to come up with matches for Vassar because that was by far his favorite.

My D is not doing Vassar ED, but I think it is her #1 at this time. Safety is Tulane, already have EA acceptance. Other schools are Brandeis (used to be #1, now she thinks may be too intense), Tufts, Wesleyan, Oberlin, Union & Muhlenberg.

Good luck to the EDers!!

i find it very humorous that last year i remember looking at this thread and being immensely jealous of all the accepted students; now it's my turn.

Seven days guys! The final countdown has begun!

My best friend is applying ED1 to Vassar and is going nuts with waiting. How can I, as a friend help him cope? I admire the way everyone is communicating on this forum for Vassar, no one is communicating on my ED school!
