The Early Decision Class of 2013 Thread

What a wonderful friend you are. I hope your Vassar hopeful friend is also being supportive of your Ed aspirations

Last night my Vasser ED1 hopeful son told me that he was very anxious about this week because of school. I told him that he would probably hear next week-as Vassar is supposedly not noted for getting decisions out early. Perhaps just the thought that they are probably making their last minute decisions as we speak is unnerving enough. My son and I discussed how I should handle a larger envelope (find him immed) and a reg sized envelope-save it until he gets home but have a good meal waiting! Maybe you can make an acceptance/rejection pact with your friend. Perhaps include the scenario that one of you gets in ED and the other doesn't-how can you best support each other? Its always healthy to take some control in seemingly uncontrollable situations

Also tell your friend that not hearing by the 15th is not indicative of anything except the post office.

I would greatly appreciate if people in this forum will inform us of Vassar's decision when they hear it-so we know what kind of timetable they are on.

For those of you who are waiting with baited breath for your letters, please remember that you are also dealing with holiday mail traffic...so things can get a bit slow. Last year when my daughter applied ED1 her acceptance letter was lost in the mail...so very strange things can happen!!! She had really given up all hope, but right before Christmas break she decided to contact the admissions' office, and they did email her back. Admissions sent out a duplicate letter which arrived three days later, and alas the original letter did appear shortly after!!! It was indeed a harrowing experience so I can really empathize with what you are all going through.

Oh I'm an international student, so I get my decision via email first, because the postal service always screws up. Last year, a friend of mine who applied ED to Vassar got her letter eight months later :S
tashersXD, which school have you applied ED to? It's sweet that you care so much, you really are a wonderful friend :)
FIVE DAYS TO GO GUYS :D!

Does Early Decision Round II count? Haha. I'll be applying under that.

So... senioritis + collegeconfidential searches = not good. I've found on this forum that in previous years, people have heard on sometimes the 11th or 13th.... that's tomorrow! AH! Trying to be calm, because I'm sure it won't happen, but seriously I can't wait any longer. Does anyone (maybe even someone on campus) know when they're sending or usually do send the letters?

well I could call and ask when/if they were mailed...I just hope they don't have caller ID 'cause I don't want too be too obnoxious!

Wow, I just read this thread and it is making me feel much better. I am from florida and am applying ED. This whole waiting thing is stressful, I just need to get my letter (hopefully it will be obese).

Sorry guys, but I called today and was told that Vassar's "target" day for mailing out is mon. Dec 15th. The good news is that they received about the same # of ED apps as last year.
dont kill the messenger!

Yes, it does seem a bit late... Last year's ED1 decisions were mailed 8 days before Christmas break which was Thursday December 13...

Do you think they are just trying to cover themselves from anxious mothers like me.That seems very unvassarlike though..I wonder what is taking so long, they said the pool is the same size as last year

The Vassar Admissions people are really great, I don't think there is any other underlying motivation! You would definitely hear first from the internationals, since they do receive notification via email and not snail mail.

Thanks,I was just getting a bit paranoid, things are a little tense around hear!

Yes, Mindy, I totally understand what you are experiencing now... Vassar was my D's dream school and now she totally loves it there! From what I have read of your previous posts I think your son has a really good chance of being accepted too.

.

From your mouth to g-ds ears. Thanks , your kindness means alot....

Well, if any internationals get an email, please post because you will hear first, then we know snail mail has been launched!

Hey everyone... just thought I'd say (one more time) best of luck!

When your decision comes in, please post in this thread: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/vassar-college/613516-decision-thread-edi.html. It's really helpful for other students to use as a reference.

littleatheist-do you have any idea why they said their target date for mailing is Dec 15?
it seems later then even the other lacs. Was it a bigger then usual pool (altho Wes has a big increase in ED1 and they mailed) Any insights would be appreciated. Thanks

Just FYI, according to my friend's Facebook status, ED letters have been mailed. ;-)

dc89, so someone got their letter? because after mindy posted, i became a bit terrified about the possibility of not getting my letter for a long long time. (aka a few extra days, haha)

i am with you there dizzylizzy. after mindy's post, I had my parents call. My dad got that they will be mailed out monday, my mother was told that they were mailed today. I just want to know.
