The environment at Rutgers

I'm live in Michigan and I haven't visited the campus yet. I was wondering if anyone on here has a good idea of the campus atmosphere. What's it like? Are the students happy? And how is the surrounding area?

What campus are you considering? They each have a different vibe: Cook/Douglas - most ‘rural’, with the livestock farms, and quiet; College Ave - where the frats & most parties are; Busch & Livingston - more studious, as engineering & pharmacy are there (need someone else to help on the latter)

Do you think out of state students would feel out of place?

busch has all the engineering, pharm and math buildings, livingston contains the entire RBS and thats it lol. busch and livingston are separate from college ave and cook/douglass by the river so the settings are different. busch and livi are a lot more quiet (Although cook is quiet too), and a lot more studious, not too much socializing. cook/douglass is quiet in some parts, city-like in others. college ave is a full city settings, so the surroundings are exactly what you would expect of a city… lots of noise, drunk people on weekends etc.
