<p>Well... my stats are not impressive at all.
I posted this on the chances forum but I figure you guys would know more about NYU.</p>

<p>Please chance me for NYU (Steinhardt - communications)</p>

<p>Gender: Male
Race: Asian
First Generation College Kid
Location: Texas</p>

<p>STATS:
GPA: 3.85ish uw 4.54 w (I took all honors and 7 AP's in all)
Rank: 14/435 (top 4%)
SAT: 1200/1800 (hopefully they'll disregard these :P)
ACT: 29 (30 english, 30 math, 28 reading, 26 science, 8 essay)
SAT II: 650 Math 1, 570 Physics</p>

<p>ECs:
VP for NHS 11-12
Active Member of Church 9-12
PAL Mentor Program 12
Physics Club 11-12
Treasurer for Chemistry Club 11
Interact Club 11-12
Global Awareness Club 12
Track and Field 9 10</p>

<p>Volunteer:
Helped repair houses (church related)
team leader for church sponsored children's camp
(100+ hours in all)
I also have work experience :P</p>

<p>Essay: Unique (PM me and I'll tell you what it was about. Or you can just ask in a post)
Recs: I'm hoping they're amazing</p>

<p>I have the same SAT score & similar GPA and have been told my chances are slim, that NYU is a reach...</p>

<p>I think you have a good shot for Steinhardt. Your SAT score is within range, and your ec's are decent. You'll do fine, good luck!</p>

<p>This is really bad I know but would the separation of parents during 2nd semester of junior year be considered a hook?</p>

<p>The only thing I see that's bad is that the SAT scores are a little low and your ECs seem a little spread out (you put a couple of things down that you only did for a year)</p>
