The FedEx Thread

Last year Columbia sent out Acceptance letters via fedex and used UPS for Rejection/deferrals.

So everyone applying early, call FedEx and ask if you have a package being sent to your house

Post here what they say.

I called yesterday and they said nothing was being sent. They will probably mail them either today or tommorow so I will call when I get home from school and post their response here.

(Yes this is getting ridiculous, but we are all going insane by waiting).

This is pure genius... in an absurd kind of way.

i personally don't wanna find out my decision from a fedEx dude...so i'll just wait till i get the actual decision

Are you just guessing that they're sending letters via FedEx? I mean, Columbia could've changed carriers from last year, right?

Honestly, you'll get the email before they send out the packages. And for my year, I think Columbia used DHL (2007)

well atleast we know they won't be using dhl :D

entr0py - I'm shocked that you actually want to do that!

I could not imagine finding out such a huge decision from a customer service representative!

I think you should wait for the decision to be posted online.

My hope is that you were just posing in order to get other people to do it, and that you yourself don't make that mistake, haha

...do you really think Columbia hasn't changed its method? I'm curious to see if people have gotten any answers.

I called today 30 seconds ago. No package. Damn.

And yes Columbia might have changed it's method, so I'm going to call a few other mail services to see whats up.

Edit: DHL didn't have anything either.

entr0py, I didnt' get anything either, I'm still holding on to hope that they will send out the packages tomorrow or on Thursday. In terms of DHL though, DHL is now owned by FedEX since the company went bankrupt. We'll see, but if everyone can call we can simplify admissions by a day, so please call.

but how would that work...the mail carrier can't open your mail for you before they deliver it, can they? so how can they tell you if you got in or not?

Nothing at FedEX here. Would call every other mail carrier but it seems like too much work. I'll try again tomorrow.

Because, in the article the kid explained they only pay for FedEx shipping for accepted applicants and use UPS for rejected/deferred. So the simple fact that you have a package coming means you were accepted. (Assuming they're still using fedex).

Nice Soap, you have insane stats so I am assured they haven't mailed them yet. But yea try again and post your results tommorow. (I will as well).

wait so we call fedex or some other mail carrier and ask them if they have a package for -insert ur address here-
they do that on customer service?
or do u just ask if they have a package for -insert your full name here-?

yeah but we don't know they're still using FedEx...and they could have reversed it this year and used FedEx for rej/deferrals...so, good idea, but i wouldn't rely upon it

Yes and yes.

hm
i dunno if i wanna do that.
if its a rejection or deferral it would be one sheet of paper in a normal envelope...so they wouldnt send it through ups or fedex...it would be sent in general mail.

btw,
anyone know when paper versions will get here?
im assuming theyll mail em out on thursday as well.
since i live in nyc...im guessing ill get it early next week.
but who wants a paper reminder if they get rejected/deferred? haha

Anna, just putting it out there, but you can edit you posts. :-) The theory is the paper version will arrive around the same time as the online, so Thurs or Fri.

Well that was a confidence booster lol. I'll call again right after school and if it doesn't work out I'll check with DHL and UPS just for shi.ts.

I've read that in the past, paper copies were received as early as the day after the online notification. That's pretty quick. I wonder if it'd be worth it to wait for the paper copy...
