Recommendations:

2 glowing
counselor rec I assume will be OK.

essay is good, going through major revision

Please Chance for:

Middlebury ED
Bowdoin
Dartmouth
BC
Amherst
Colby
Cornell
William and Mary

Also, should I report the two 3's on the AP tests?

Thanks!

bump that thread. bump it

You are on target for all these schools, except Dartmouth which may be a reach. BC is practically a safety, you will have no trouble there.

If you’re applying ED for Middlebury, I would say you have an 80% chance of getting in.

Don’t worry about the 3’s. You can report them if you want, it won’t make a difference either way. Just worry about getting good scores on your upcoming ones.

Good luck!

Thanks lyssar. Other views?

Agree with lyssar

Basically the thing with the APs is that they can’t really hurt you. Worst comes to worst, you can still call into CB and tell them to cancel or hide the scores from certain colleges.

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/954601-hypsm-hopeful-chances.html

Amherst seems on the low-match for you, Cornell would be a match, and Dartmouth would be a reach.
I would report all scores since if you didn’t report it, it seems like you didn’t take the test at all because you weren’t confident with yourself.

thanks. bump

I would not put Midd at 80%. They get a ton of prep school applicants from MA including many legacies making it much harder than if you werree from South Carolina. I would say reasonable shot there and at Colby, W & M and Bowdoin.

I don’t see Dartmouth with these stats from MA and Cornell is a reach.

Don’t mention the 3’s if not asked.

I go to W&M. You will get in there at least.

@redroses: even early decision? I thought that would help me out a bit…

I think ED will help at Midd, i just wouldn’t say you have a near 80% shot, you’re in a super competitive pool. 10 to ivies out of 370 does not make your school very competitive in terms of MA prep schools. Fair shot, but a deferral wouldn’t surprise me so they can view the whole pool.

Fair enough. Thinking about this year, I believe 12 kids went. Usually, the kids rank in the top 10 students in the grade. So would you say I have more of a chance RD than ED?

Better chance ED for sure. The top prep schools send 30% plus to ivies plus (plus is Stanford and MIT). When you add in the top 6 LACs, Duke, Chicago, Vandy, NU…it’s near 75% of the class.
