The final countdown!

Decisions get sent out on 25th according to what I hear from my friends. They just found out today.

Yep! That means...

MAILING DAY IS IN EXACTLY 2 WEEKS!

dbear

I'll PM you.

I saw what you wrote iconplaybass. I didn't find anything bad about it to PM. But it's past 11 here so my brain is totally dead.

Anyway, in admissions do they only compare engineering applicants to engineering applicants, CAS applicants to other CAS applicants, Peabody applicants to Peabody applicants? I'm almost positive that they do, but I'm just asking to make sure, since I saw iconplaybass was applying to engineering before he deleted his post.

hilsa

No. Nothing bad...just don't know if too much information can identify me. I'm still unsure if posting so much about yourself on the internet is a good idea.

dbear

Can't PM you. So here goes. Got in Rose Hulman, Virginia Tech, RIT, CWRU, GaTech, and honors program in local state school.

I think I'm pretty fortunate to have some great places to choose from and I did receive scholarships and honors invites from each, as well. However, if Vanderbilt would take me, I'm so there!

how did they hear it's the 25th?

Admissions usually aims to send it them out a few days early (this did this for ED too) and i believe it says on their blog that they are aiming to mail the 25th.

The days are passing by so painfully slow

Go out and enjoy life. It's what I've learned.

Go see a good movie/go to a film festival (yay Sarasota Film Festival in two weeks! And Steve Buscemi is coming!!!). Go take a walk in a park. Take lots of naps.

Just do something you like. Although I agree that time is going so slowly, but having fun helps make it go a little bit faster. =]

According to the newly updated Vandy Admissions Blog (it's nice to know they're still alive), mailing day is now THURSDAY MARCH 26th.

From how I read the new entry, it seems like almost all decisions have been made. That's rather scary to know my fate has already been decided.

Does anyone know if all decisions come in a small envelope? I read something like that before. But now I see pictures of big envelopes for those who are accepted... so now are only big envelopes for accepted students, and small envelopes to waitlisted/rejected?

hilsa,
Accepted students (including those previously accepted ED) will receive large priority mail envelopes containing a plethora of information and forms.

Ok, thanks 2VU0609 for answering yet another question of mine. =]

So I guess I'll know if I get in before I read any letter. Oy vey.

hilsa,
Good luck - if students were admitted based on desire, you'd be an automatic admit!

Thanks for the luck!

Yes, demonstrated interest would definitely help me because I'm on the bubble of waitlist/admit. Statistically, a 32 could go either way, with my 10 APs (5, 5, 5, 4, 3 so far) and 4.0. I think I'd be an automatic waitlist if I had a 32, a slightly lower GPA and fewer APs. It all depends on whether they think my grades/rigor of courseload (+ other stuff) will make up for the mediocre test score.

But even if I get waitlisted, I think demonstrated interest will definitely help me, since I went to Vanderbilt for 6 weeks this summer for a science pre-college program. And it seems that many people who get in may not attend, so that gives me more of a chance of getting in off the waitlist.

I'm not giving up on hope until mid June! :)

So even the ED admits get their "large packet" in a week or two and not at the May 18 date I had in my head for some reason? EDers got only a very very small envelope at the beginning and have since received only one other mailing, I wish we got more! :)

Vandy13,
Unless something has changed (and I can't imagine why it would have), you can expect a big envelope the last week of the month. If you look at the pictures posted on the blog, you'll see the mail bins and the picture of the priority envelopes which matches previous years experience. I'm sure they have already stuffed the envelopes for you EDers and are moving on to the RD folks. You will get all the information about housing, etc. I think the only thing D got prior to this packet was her small letter and information about returning the matriculation deposit. She may have also gotten a fold up poster from Chancellor Gee about Vanderbilt as a national arboretum, which reminds me - things are starting to bloom, so it's time for Vandy students with allergies to begin inundating student health. Freshman year was the worst for both of my kids.

I am SOOO nervous! I don't know what I will do with myself if I don't get accepted... about 2 weeks till i see something in the mail... i need a time machine

Hilsa... it says on the Vandy website and on Princeton Review that the admissions staff doesn't look at demonstrated interest... have you heard otherwise?

Not trying to burst a bubble or anything; in fact, I think you have a really solid shot! I got in with ZERO APs and an ACT only one point above yours. Best of luck!

Macaroni: I was talking if I got waitlisted. They consider demonstrated interest then. :)

Gotcha. Clarity reigns.
