I went to check my email today and I got a message about Vanderbilt's waiting list. I firuged that it was just some informational email like some of the ones that I've gotten from a couple of other schools, but when I read it they said that I was chosen from the waiting list! I don't know whether or not I'll go, but I have until May 10th to decide.

me too buddy

Congrats! That's got to be a great feeling, even if you decide not to attend!

Did they say how many spots they had to fill? What else did your email say?

CONGRATS! let us know if you decide to go or not. Vandy's pretty awesome, i'll be going this fall. hope you join us!

wooo. congratulations!!! welcome to vandy!!!

Congratulations.

yeah i got in off the waitlist a while ago and i wasnt sure at first if i wanted to accept the offer, since tulane was offering me a 22-grand scholarship. I didnt expect $ from a school like vanderbilt so i was going to just stick with tulane. But the admissions officer recently talked to my mom and she claimed that vanderbilt was willing to dish out 21,000 from grants and scholarships which i have yet to confirm in the mail; if that holds true then my decision would seem like a no-brainer.

Not even considering the possibility of attending Vanderbilt, i didnt bother to visit. But my friend went down to nashville and told me that the student body was extremely southern and preppy, more so than tulane. Does anyone have any advice/information on how valid that statement is?

ok, first of all you will have to clarify what you mean by southern, that is too broad a generalization. he could mean anything from southern hospitality to hicktown usa (which vandy def. isnt) and sure some of the kids dress preppy but they are pretty down to earth/ you'll have to deal w/ preppy kids at any school you go to.

The student body isn't really that southern anymore; but it tends to be preppy. I wouldn't be worried by this -- there are lots of different types of kids and you will find your niche.

I agree with the above posts, that while Vandy kids do dress in a preppy style, that should not dissuade you from attending. My son has gone over to Belmont, a Christian college in Nashville, and people are always surprised that he is so down to earth and yet he is a Vandy, preppy dressed student.

Vanderbilt is a fantastic school and you will be very impressed with the campus, dorms, classes, professors and the students- who are intelligent, interesting, social kids. What students wear and own is not that important, unless it prevents you from feeling comfortable at Vanderbilt. But I hope that isn't the case.

vandy it is, see you all there next year

When's the last day you can get off the waiting list? Does anybody know? I'm already going woohoo vandy '10, but I was wondering for a friend.

You guys are lucky. I've been hearing from multiple admissions officers that there were too many people matriculating this year from the regular admissions pool. Good luck at Vandy!
