Had to look it up, so I’ll just attach it.
Hidden Figures.
-
The scene where Taraji Henson erupts in anger and tears when she defends herself for being missing at work. She lets her boss know that there is no washroom that she can use without running a mile to a different building.
-
The subsequent scene where her boss, Kevin Costner, goes over to the washroom and demolishes the sign that says “Colored Ladies Room”.
We were in Boston in October. Asked for iced tea. “Out of season” was the reply.
“Got hot tea?” yes. “Got ice?” yes.
“Okay, bring me a cup of tea and a glass of ice.”
(You’d think in Boston of all places you could get tea any way you want…")
“Bueller? Bueller?..”
Iced tea is not big in the north. Since I grew up drinking iced tea at dinner every day, that was a big adjustment!
But I’m hoping you could figure out how to get iced tea if you have tea available…and Boston has a decent history with tea.
In Boston? Let’s just say we visit the city occasionally, but we are darned glad to cross the bridge back into Maine again. We spent our first anniversary in Boston and agreed we’d never celebrate there again.
All these sports movies and no one’s mentioned Jerry Maguire (both “show me the money” and “you had me at hello”)?
Scent of a Woman-Tango scene-if you get tangled up, tango on!
Wow. Why have I not seen this before?
Every Ferris Bueller scene with the principal and his secretary.
We had the VHS tape for Apollo 13 movie and watched it many times as a family. (Daughter was a space nut… went to Space Camp in FL and traded space trivia with the college aged counselors.) I have always marveled at the suspense generated when we ALL know how the story ends.
Sooo many good scenes, including “Houston, we have a problem” (often quoted after mishaps at our house). But my favorite is this one Apollo 13 (1995) - It's Been a Privilege Flying With You Scene (10/11) | Movieclips - YouTube
Also love this less intense scene, with Jim Lovell’s family visiting his mother - “Don’t worry. If they could get a washing machine to fly, my Jimmy could land it”. BSA118- My Jimmy Could Fly It! - YouTube
Today’s the 42nd anniversary of the release of Airplane!
My favorite scene: Just Kidding - YouTube
It’s not highbrow art, but I love the “You have a baby…in a bar!” scene from Sweet Home Alabama. It’s comfort food for me and I will watch it any time I see it on tv.
Speaking of not high brow art, which I’m always a fan of, I love the Naked Gun series of films. In a classic homage to Abbott & Costello, the various actors discussing boxing nicknames:
The tango scene in Scent of a Woman is great. The scene that stands out to me is the one where a very young Chris O’Donnell talks Al Pacino out of suicide. Great acting.
The Sweet Home Alabama scene is great but almost quaint these days. Seeing young babies in breweries/wineries/bars is pretty commonplace these days. People like to gather!
