Hey guys,

I was wondering what you guys think about Furda coming to PENN, particularly current PENN students. I've heard he was a stud at Columbia, now Columbia is almost as selective as HYS (it beats out Princeton by percentage admitted to the college).

Do you think Furda can work his magic at PENN. It seems that PENN is a great institution but one of its main sour point in applicants eyes is its high admit rate. Will the Furda Factor be enough to help PENN become increasingly selective ?

Do you feel Gutman is taking PENN in the right direction. One could reference the superb management of PENN's endowment, the fact that she brought Furda to PENN, and other facts that hint of her success in outsiders eyes but I wonder what you insiders think.

Personally I think Furda is going to be great for PENN. I envision the day when PENN will no longer be confused with PENN State, and the day when PENN will become as selective as MIT or Columbia, and Wharton will be more selective than HYP.

It would be nice to have the bridges burned behind me but, as a current freshman, I would still like the status quo preserved. Rates don’t matter so much when we get CEOs and recruiters from every respected company on campus. I think Penn is right where it needs to be.

you reaallly don’t have to capitalize penn like that

i feel like stetson had a bit of an enigma about him, so furda may make the office more personable and accessible while increasing outreach to all

selectivity is only one measure of an institution, as is us news rank - we all like to see those numbers go in the right directions, but in the end the quality of education and experience is what matters

penn seems to be moving in the right direction - not too aggressively, but not too slowly - i’m excited to see what other new initiatives and programs will come

Does anyone know why Stetson left?
