Well Kelly coached at GVSU, a D-II team or w.e they call that division. And he won 2 national championships there and then he went to CMU and basically turned around that horrible program (ironically made worse by Mike Debord, our current offensive coordinator) and won the MAC championship in his 3rd year there. And now he is winning at Cincy..The guy just basically wins everywhere he goes. The only concern I have is that he might be another Saban, many people say he might bolt to the NFL if a job became avaliable. However, he is a great coach and he runs that high octane spread offense. And I don’t believe experience will be a factor; he can win anywhere (except maybe the NFL, since spread offenses don’t work up there).

Kelly isn’t the guy for the job. MSU didn’t even want him over Dantonio last year. You can do better than Brian Kelly. He’s doing noting but winning with Mark Dantonio’s recruits at Cincinnati. Hasn’t truly shown anything at the BCS ranks yet.

les will leave lsu for mich… It is his dream job.

Very similar to Charlie Wies leaving the patriots for ND.

Tedford and Kelly are the only 2 I can see besides Les. Michigan football will come back, dont you wolverines worry

your situation looks pretty good compared to my Irish’s

Wouldn’t fret about ND too much…the recruiting class they are bringing in is excellent. While Michigan’s average recruit rating is quite a bit higher than usual, I am bummed that we haven’t secured a 5-star recruit.

sam mcguffie has given a verbal commitment, and i’m sure if miles or tedford come he’d be happy to make that a written one. miles..enough said. tedford has had a 1,000 yard rusher ever year since he came to cal.

this is incredible:

and this is his commitment:

The more I think about it, the less I think that Les Miles is going to come here. I really think that the top choice for the job is going to be Kirk Ferentz.

As for McGuffie, he will be coming to Michigan…his stock dropped a lot this year because of his injury problems. I don’t even think he is in the Rivals 250 anymore. But I think he will still be a good player at Michigan. Him and Mallett should form a pretty good tandem, assuming Mallett can start making decent decisions.

i’ve heard tedford and kelley the most spoken-about names besides miles…ferentz would surprise me given his mediocre recent record at iowa.

Rivals has these guys on the coaching board, in this order:

Les Miles
Kirk Ferentz
Brian Kelly
Mike Trgovac
Cam Cameron
Mike DeBord
Ron English
Jeff Tedford
Jim Harbaugh
Greg Schiano
Brady Hoke

I really think it will be Kirk Ferentz because he has run a very clean program. Also, he was Mary Sue Coleman’s pick at Iowa. Really I see the major candidates as the three guys at the top of the list, one of the current Michigan assistants, and Tedford.

It looks like Kelly really wants to jump to the NFL, and I don’t think he is yet ready for this kind of job. They might promote one of the Michigan assistants, I see that as a good possibility, but at the same time, I think it is realized that the program has to change. I think Tedford’s lack of Midwestern background works against him. Personally, I would like to see Les Miles.

But in the end, this is Michigan. The leadership is going to do whatever the hell they want, campus opinion be damned.

Kirk Ferentz, really? Did you see that Iowa lost to Western Michigan this weekend?

I would love to see someone who runs the spread offense give this job a try.

Rich Rodriguez of WV has also been mentioned by a lot of people. that might be a good option; good, clean program, with explosive offenses. again, i would be surprised, very surprised if it was ferentz. i see what you mean about the background and stuff, but he hasn’t proven himself to be a big-time winner at that level like some of the other coaches have.

Michigan can have Tedford after this season.

F’n embarrassing!

Ferentz may run a clean program by NCAA rules standards, but this past year he’s had several players put on trial for using a stolen credit card, and three players investigated for sexual assault. I don’t know if there ended up being an arrests in the sexual assault case, but before that even came to light there have been 11 players arrested for various things since last April–some of them more than once.

Michigan football had it’s fair share of legal incidents over the past year (Arrington, Manningham, Sears, Eugene Germany, Carson Butler, two walk ons got kicked off for getting in a bar fight), and I don’t think you can really say that’s a result of Lloyd not running a clean program. Sometimes there’s only so much you can do to keep college athletes in line.

Personally, I think it would be pretty awesome if we went after John Gruden, but I have no idea if that’s in any way feasible.

Ferentz is a horrible coach, if he is hired he would not be hired because of his credentials but because of his relationship with the Mary Sue Coleman. I actually would rather keep coach Carr than have Ferentz.

Another interesting name I have been hearing lately is Jon Gruden. Supposedly, his dream job is UM as well. And he was asked about his interest in the UM job today in a press conference in TB and he certainly didn’t deny anything (He pulled a Les Miles). Personally, I think Gruden would be an amazing hire. He will do for UM what Carroll has done for USC.

Did anyone see Miles’ press conference yesterday? I guess a lot of media sources in Baton Rouge are saying that if he’s offered the job, he’ll go. It seems as if Michigan fans are expecting nothing less than that lol.

Many of my fellow Michigan fans only like Miles because of his UM connections. This boggles my mind, because shouldn’t we be trying to get away from that? Don’t get me wrong I love Bo but I don’t want another Bo right now. Miles is a good coach but not a great coach, half of the candidates mentioned could coach circles around this guy.

Of course he’ll go. It’s his alma mater, and the new stadium remodel looks sick!

I can’t find too many good pics of it. mind posting the link ucb? thanks :)

futbil: succeeding at a high level every year in the sec makes me think he’s well-qualified.

vc08: shame…check out the UM website…It was practically plastered on the site.

And yes, as a Cal football fan, I’m jealous.

haha, thanks. I actually tried that before, but it kept coming up with an error message. I guess my computer is just having a bad day lol.

And yes, as a fellow Cal fan, I’m jealous as well. did you see that espn article on the tree people a while ago?
