The GAP program

Does anyone know much about the Guaranteed admissions program? From what I've understood if you just meet the requirements (3.5 gpa, 1600 SAT) you are guaranteed in. Is this correct?

Also will this decrease my chances for getting into other UCs?

For GAP you need to apply by Aug 15. It's non-binding and guarantees admission if you meet the requirements (GPA means weighted UC GPA):

* Complete 13 of 15 required UC Approved “a-g” courses (exceptions include fourth year English and either the Visual and Performing Art or College Preparatory Elective).
* Attain a minimum 3.5 GPA in “a-g” coursework and maintain a record of academic excellence during your senior year of high school.
* Complete SAT Reasoning Test with a minimum score of 1600.
* Complete 2 SAT Subject exams by December of your senior year.

Guaranteed Admission Program

I can't tell you if it will decrease your chances for getting into another UC.

Really by August 15?

thanks vballmom

Also can someone tell me if it'll affect my chances? kinda worried here...

bump..bump...

can anyone answer my questions from above ^?

You might try posting your question on the general UC thread which has a little more traffic than this one.

I don't know the history of the GAP at UCR - is this something they do every year? And what is the reasoning behind it. It's easy enough for high school seniors to fill out the online form so it will boost the number of applicants. But since it's not binding, I'm curious about what it will do to UCR's yield - or does that not matter?

^I'm wondering about the same exact things you are.
