Hi everyone! This is my first post on the UVA thread so I am probably asking something that has already been discussed in the past. I tried to look for possible answers but unfortunately, I have failed =(

I was just wondering how important the SAT was in the admissions process as compared to the ivies. I am not good when it comes to standarized testing and after taking the SAT three times, I have a 1900. My SAT II's are in the 600's too. I did rank in the top 10% of the class though.

I have a ton of research that I have conducted and have several leadership positions in clubs that I have committed myself to since my freshmen year of HS.

Does this still make me a possible contender for admission? Comments would be greatly appreciated!=)

Are you in-state or OOS? Are you an URM? The answers to these questions would give me, and everyone else, a better idea. Also, do you think your essays and recommendations are good? The thing is that at UVA admissions these four factors are above SAT scores. That's not to say that they are not important, but the SAT is a lower-tier facet of the application.

Standardized testing can be inane once and a while. I got a 1900 by the new SAT standards and didn't break 660 on either SAT II Math IIC and Chemistry. A 1330 on the GRE is not that stellar either.

Recommendation is awesome...essays should be good and no, I am Asian. I am also a published author in a peer reviewed science journal if that counts as some kind of hook

Being a resident of VA is an issue? I am from NY

Your chances are okay since you are OOS. You would have a better chance if you were IS. It is not a real reach for you, but you are not a shoo-in.
