Just Curious...

How many applications were there this year? Also i didnt do so well on my SAT Math section, so i took the math SAT II IC to show that i am not that bad at math. Is this a good way to show I am good at math? also i am in AP Calc with a 95 average..

I think Dean J posted in her blog that there were about 18,000 (+2000 transfers).
As for your SAT, don't sweat it. That's the advantages of taking AP classes and SAT IIs =) If it's above 600, definently dont worry about it.

dododo~
i think a lot will have to do with whether you're an in-stater or not. requirements are tough enough for Virginians, and almost impossible("public ivy" status)for those out-of-state. GOOD LUCK...AN AWESOME SCHOOL!!!

I got a 560 on the US history SAT2...but a 690 on Math Ic and a 700 on lit. I dont believe SATII scores are heavily weighted. In fact, people who did ED didnt even need them until after they were accepted so...

they dont even consider SAT II unless your scores place you out of a class. also, if you got a 730 or above on the writing section, you place out of some freshman english class!! yay!

No ... take math IIC, especially if you're in AP Calculus. And UVa requires 2 SAT IIs for freshman admissions, so yeah, they must be significant.

Just fyi, they're not recommended, just strongly suggested.

i got into UVa and didn't report any SAT IIs. i reported ACT and they were fine with it.

Oh, a rep of UVa told me they were required at a college fair, maybe he misread recommended for required..thx though.

i think they are still required. and even if they say recommended, at a school like UVA, you take them!

I just realized my previous post makes no sense...they arn't required, just strongly suggested

SATIIs are expensive and time consuming and not all schools offer them frequently. UVa probably doesn't require them because their aim is to attract lower-income/minority students, and these students will often be in places where the SATII is offered one or two weekends in a school year, and that same weekend may be consumed by the SAT/ACT/other personal matters. Its too tough for UVa to require such a specialized test, but since there's an opportunity for all to take them, they would still like to see them
