I am reading Absolutely American and the graduating class each contribute a dollar for the lowest ranked 1C cadet. Does Air Force have a similar tradition. How awful being the GOAT.

But it's a good way to make $1400. Actually, I asked about this at Summer Seminar, and they said that they don't have it because it would always turn into a competition.

lol. everyone would be trying to fail all their classes and not doing PT in the morning.

Tail in Charlie, they stopped it because of people trying for the cash. Order of merit follows your entire career. Starting at major it will determine your line number. If you graduate with 900 classmates, 600 stay and make major, not all pin on major the same day. The first folks in your class will have the smallest line numbers and the last will have the larger numbers. Which means you will be paid as a major months before those who are tail in charlies. Even when you are a general select OM comes into play.

How do ROTC and Regular University Grads work in Order of Merit?

First everyone goes by the day of your commission in your "year group". Then you are ranked within the ROTC unit/OTS class. They rank everyone, this how some people are giving slots for pilot training and some are not. Everything you do in the military is how well you rank against your peers, pilot training slots, promotions, and PME.
