Thanks for asking, @splashmom. Yesterday, the day we returned from the other coast and baby visiting, was the first day I could put eight ont he boot/foot. Its clunky, but nice to be ambulatory again. DS and wife started a baby pics google photos group and I accidentally posted a pic of my gross green/purple/yellow foot on the photo stream. Oops!
DH got home from work and the first words out of his mouth were “when do we get to facetime with them tonight?”
She is beautiful, and perfect.
DIL is getting better. Hopefully only one more PT session.
Ack autocorrect. Put weight on the boot.
Ha ha! Grandboy is walking. We’ve been telling them to be careful what they wish for. LOL. He’ll be 13 months on the 9th. So cute.
Finally!! Granddaughter due on 9/28 arrived at 4:04 ET. She’s 9 lbs, 8 oz and 20.5 inches long. Beautiful head of dark hair and very pretty, IMO, for a newborn. I guess if you are late to the party, you have a little more something to fill out your tiny face than the average newborn! DIL’s mother has been there since 9/25 and has to leave Wednesday, which is a shame. I’m going on 10/26 and can’t wait to get my hands on her:)
Congrats! We’ve got 3.5 weeks to go, if our granddaughter arrives on time.
Congrats, @2VU0609 !! Just wait til you hold her. Your life will be changed forever. And soon it will be tour turn, @shellfell ! We are going back out in a few weeks to see ou little granddaughter!
Many congratulations, @2VU0609! September 28th sounds like a long time ago - you must all have been getting tired of waiting. Skype and Facetime are big improvements in the grandparent biz since a generation ago - enjoy!
Have all of you decided what you want to be called? Everytime I think I’ve made a decision, I start vacillating.
I went back and forth thinking of names for awhile, then S and DIL said they both had Grandmas and thought I should go with that. Fine. When my little one was starting to talk, her version was Gamma which morphed into Gammy. So Gammy it is and I love it! H is Pop, or sometimes Poppy.
Congratulations! @2VU0609, I’m so happy for you and your family - a healthy, beautiful baby! @jym626 is right - being a grandparent really is amazing!
GS has been sitting up to play for quite awhile now. It is so much fun. I build block towers and he knocks them down and laughs so hard. He is creeping and moving pretty quickly. He gets up on his knees, rocks, and goes right back to his ‘army crawl’. This week he started to pull himself up, first to kneel up and then to stand - on the fireplace, on the ottoman, on Nana. Now, if only I could wave my wand and make him sleep for eight (or more) hours at night… He was the cutest little giraffe for Halloween.
I am Nana. One sister and one sister-in-law are also Nana. One sister and one sister-in-law are Mimi.
@shellfell, Any news yet?
I made it to WPB to meet the baby last weekend and she is quite a complex little thing. I only took 3 pictures of her because she wants her pacifier most of her waking time and when she doesn’t have it, she can be quite the screamer at times. My S posted on FB Wednesday morning that she had decided to spend her first Halloween as a car alarm I absolutely loved holding her and can’t wait for her to visit at Christmas. I just hope she becomes a happier camper between now and then. I don’t know what the issue is, but I’m just the mother-in-law and I’m not going to start telling them what I think. I’m worried that she is wearing her parents out.
We got to see a real, purposeful smile. Melts your heart.
The car alarm is hysterical!
@2VU0609 – Colic? S2 was miserable the first three months and the only thing that calmed him down was DH carrying him him close and walking around the house in fast circles while singing. When I tried to do the same, S1 smelled milk (and wanted to nurse, which made his tummy hurt), and he got so overstimulated that he’d wail. At four months, it was like a light switch came on – he was sunny, happy and no more colic. Thank G-d!
S and DIL are at the hospital for the 3rd time in the past 1.5 days. They sent them home twice, but are admitting her this time. I got this all 2nd hand from DH who couldn’t sleep and was up texting and talking to S most of the night, after we decided we wouldn’t be those people who keep bothering an expectant couple with “anything happening?”.
Hopefully, today’s the day.
After a very, very, very long labor (our poor DIL), our granddaughter is here. It was excruciating waiting for updates throughout the day, as DH and I were left to wonder if not hearing from S meant they had to do a C-section, or if there were other problems. Everyone is fine. Still waiting for photos, but S & DIL say she looks like S. She was full-term, but she’s pretty small (more lengthwise than weightwise).
It is the middle of the night, but I checked in to see if today is the day. Biggest congrats, sheLLFELL.
Thanks. Finally saw some photos. It’s hard to tell if she looks like S from the photos we’ve seen, but DH thinks she resembles me as a baby, which would mean she looks like S. I want to see more photos before I jump on that bandwagon.
Can’t wait to see her in person in just under 5 weeks.
Congratulations! @ shellfell, Glad to hear your granddaughter is finally here and everyone is doing well. You will love holding her.
@2VU0609, Your S is funny! That sense of humor will come in handy with a baby. GS was pretty fussy early and was not nursing well / gaining well. D saw lactation specialists and gave up dairy. That seemed to help. Also, I don’t think D had enough milk to satisfy GS. She began supplementing with formula. He still drinks about 80% breast milk. He was down to the 10th percentile in weight at about three months, but is now eating well and back up to the 50th percentile.
Big news here – GS has his first tooth! His second is on the way. So cute!
Just saw GS2 DIL was in extended labor and had to have a c-section. GS was 5 weeks early but is fine now. We of course think he is perfect! A red head!
