The Grandparent Thread

Congrats to you all and hugs to the new mom.

Congratulations!

Mazel Tov @jym626! So what name will you go by?

Probably nana. But we said whatever she calls me is what I will be!

I’ve been thinking of nana too. I figured it’s easy to say, but my granddaughter will ultimately decide.

Congratulations! How long will you be out there?

We are here for one more day. Daughter in law having some complications. Hope all will be fine.

Hoping for your DIL’s speedy recovery.

Keeping a good thought for your family!

Congratulations @jym626 !!

Congratulations @jym626 and to your S & DiL. Hope she recuperates quickly.
If I’m ever lucky enough to have a grandchild, I hope to be “Nana” too. To me that name represents unconditional love like none other.

Thanks, everyone. She is getting better, but it was hard watching g the people we met whose babies were also delivered Thursday going home today. Hopefully she will be able to go home Monday.

Congratuations and hopes for smooth healing for your daughter-in-law! I am thrilled for you!

Thank you, everyone! We came home this morning and they were discharged from the hospital this afternoon. We will see them again at Thanksgiving… if I can wait that long!

Great news!

Great news, @jym626! It must have been hard to leave. So glad your DIL was discharged. It’s only 66 days until Thanksgiving, according to Siri. ;

That little precious baby will change a lot in 2 months!

I just so totally get it. I am head over heels in love with a little gut and I don’t have to worry one single moment about his food, diapers, vaccinations, etc. I simply get to just love love love him. We picked them up from a three week trip to see the Thai grandparents and when he saw me the did the “all over dance” thing in his stroller, laughing and reaching for me. My heart melted.

Skype is your friend! When our little one lived OOS for her first year, we had weekly Skype sessions. We would tell the parents to just park her in front of the laptop and we would watch her. LOL When she was a little older, we played peek-a-boo, read books and even had lunch with her all electronically. DIL was also good at sending almost daily pictures. Physical distance does not have to equal emotional distance. Enjoy that baby!

Congratulations, Jym, on your new grand baby. I’m sure she’s perfect, and I hope your DIL is feeling better every day. How is your ankle?
