The Grandparent Thread

And congrats splashmom! We are at 1 mo and counting…

my grandboy left today with his parents for 3 weeks in Thailand to visit his grandparents there. I miss him already.

I do not know what a TDAP shot is (will look it up). I guess there is a lot to learn to be a GM.

https://www.cdc.gov/pertussis/downloads/matte-grandparents.pdf. Before you cuddle with your new, little bundle, though, it’s important to get a Tdap vaccine, which protects against whooping cough (also called pertussis), tetanus and diphtheria. Ideally, you should get the vaccine at least 2 weeks before visiting the baby.

Thx JYM. I was going to look it up, but then I read BB’s post on drapes and looked up Smith and Noble. So much info on these threads!

Like you, I had to get certified in CPR every few years. After my son was born, I took my parents to a class.

TDAP shot done. Asked if DH and I could be in the room together to get them as it was kinda symbolic - for the birth of our first grandchild, (our appointments were back to back) but the lab technician is claustrophobic!

We are so hoping to get the heck out of Atlanta to San Francisco tomorrow morning as daughter-in-law is being induced tomorrow night. To add to the complication, in addition to hurricane Irma screwing up everything, I broke my ankle last weekend and I’m on crutches and in a boot. This should be interesting. Cross your fingers and toes please. I have borrowed one of those knee scooter things which I plan to take to the airport. It’s going to be a long day tomorrow for me and my daughter-in-law.

Rooting for you @jym626 ! Best of luck and congrats!!!

Hope you make it there in time. Congrats.

We won’t be making the trip to CA for our granddaughter’s birth until she’s about 5 weeks old. I don’t think they want us there immediately, and then Thanksgiving gets in the way.

Congratulations, @SplashMom and Family! Prayers for continued good health.

@jym626 - Congratulations! Wishes for a speedy delivery and a healthy baby. I hope your travel is not too difficult.

Thanks @shellfell, @my-3-sons and @hrh19. I hope to not be in the way. We’d planned to find a play or go sightseeing but that’s now gonna be harder. We’ll take their lead and go over only when they say its ok. This is their time.
We plan to come for thanksgiving and they will be coming here in February.

She’s beautiful

Congratulations Grandma! @jym626

Congrats!

Tough 2 days of labor followed by a c-section she was really hoping to avoid but the final prize is so worth it.

Great news, @jym6626!

Wonderful news. Congrats!

Congratulations, jym626! I hope you’re getting lots of baby holding time!

Hope mother and baby are OK after that ordeal.

Trying to hold that little dear bundle as much as possible without overstaying our welcome in the hospital room. She will be in the hospital for several more days.
