The Harvard Waitlist Waiting Room 2014 Thread

I talked to the lady that interviewed me; we will hear on the 17th or 18th…

Come Thursday I’ll take a break from this thread. I won’t physically be able to check it out for a couple of days, and I don’t want to agonize over the decisions right before they come out. I’ll return after the slaughter :).

I just hope they don’t make us wait forever to be slaughtered. I don’t want to be rejected at the end of June.

I didn’t get a second interview. I guess they don’t want me anymore. why didn’t they just reject me right out? I’m very frustrated that I have to wait for closure.

I’ve never really heard of this second interview business. I wouldn’t worry if you didn’t get one; I’m sure most people didn’t. You and the rest of us are definitely still viable candidates, especially since Harvard admissions just recently started wait list deliberations.

Cali4me: what second interview are you referring to?

I don’t believe second interviews exist.

-Optimism!

Really? Well, I’ve been creeping on this board and a bunch of people have gotten second interviews and have been contacted by their interviewer since they were notified that they were waitlisted. Also, has anyone NOT heard back from an Adcom that their updates were received? - Cuz I didn’t get any response from the office.

And everyone on here is genius~ matriculating at other Ivies and Stanford. So jealous-I feel like a little fish compared to you all! And Harvard would be 1/4 the cost of UC Berkeley for me. So much on the line with so little hope. sigh.

I got a second interview with my regional admissions officer…they definitely exist.

I am not going to another Ivy nor Stanford. And I did not get confirmation of my update from my regional admissions officer.

Hey, I’m going to my state school (though it’s cheaper than Harvard would be for me).

Oh, and I didn’t get confirmation of my update either, but I tracked it with the post office and it supposedly got there.

I didn’t get any confirmations about updates or a second interview. I was looking at the Yale wait list thread the other day, and I saw that someone was accepted who said they didn’t even send in any updates.

This made me realize that I should stop worrying, because there’s really nothing left to do but wait and be hopeful.

I agree with reach4thestars!

How large a factor do you guys think current grades play?

Welcome! I’m putting college of matriculation in brackets. Please state your own and I’ll add it!

If your name is in bold PLEASE come out and say hi so we can confirm that you are remaining on the waitlist! Thanks!

Updated with wonderful lurkers. More people should come out and join us! (108 people so far; 86 for sure-22 unknown)

…I figured I should stop lurking already, so you can add me to the list! I’m in New York and I’m committed to U Penn for next year.

How large a factor do you guys think current grades play?

courteau: I was wondering that myself. And to be entirely honest, I have no idea. I bet that they only matter slightly and that the waitlist deliberations are actually just a rerun of actual deliberations; with everyone being compared holistically. Good grades obviously can’t hurt!

Noaflora: welcome! Updated!

hello all, I’m not on the waitlist, but I just thought I’d say congratulations to everyone who was waitlisted by Harvard… that’s an amazing achievement!
one of my friends is on the waitlist and she is the smartest, most-hardworking, well-liked person I’ve ever met in my life…
good luck to all of you, and remember if you don’t get accepted that you should be EXTREMELY proud of yourselves for doing so well in high school
:)

Aw, thanks, Sabrina. That was really nice of you to drop a word. :)
